Sleeping on the bed when slide is in?

We have a 2020 Rockwood Ultralite 2608BS. The queen bed is in a slide. Is it safe to put weight on the bed (sleeping in it) while the slide is in?
We were told we should not step on the floor of the other slide (couch and table) while that slide is retraced. Is that true?
I’m new to this and don’t understand the construction details yet.
I’m looking for some guidance.

Thank you!

Sleeping on the bed when slide is in?

We asked the same question before we started on our cross country tour.
FR said our BR slide is on “rollers” and there would be no problem with using the bed while slide is in. We use this configuration all the time while doing an overnighter. Check with your dealer or FR.

Check with Rockwood for your specific model.

We were told there was no issue using the bed with the wardrobe slide in. It is also true that you should not step on the sofa/dinette slide when in. The edges are not supported as they are when the slide is out. Damage could possibly occur.

Well, maybe what they were inferring was dont be on the slide while you set it in motion to extend or retract. That I could easily see

The bed slide is as stated on a roller system and will support weight extended or retracted.

The "Level Floor" slides, typically living room or dining area, tilt as they are retracted and are NOT flat on the floor. That leaves a 1 or 2 inch gap and the edge is thin so they look level when extended. That thin edge can break if you walk on it while the slide is in.

There is an awful lot of pressure on the top of the slide against the exterior wall and on the rack and pinion system when that type of slide is retracted. If you walk on the retracted tilted slide floor (even if you miss the edge), you could damage the extension/retraction mechanism or bend the metal top exterior cleat causing a bad weather seal.

Your bed question has been answered very well. So let me see if I can help you understand the other slide. Take a full piece of plywood and put a 2x4 or 4x4 on the outer edges and then stand in the middle. This is exactly how the floor of the other slide will react when stood on. There is no support in the middle.

we use ours

We use ours when traveling. Never had a problem. We have a fifth wheel and I think they are made to sleep overnight without having to open the slide out so you can just pull into a rest area and jump in bed for a while.
