slide out toppers and outside attached gas grill

Our 8314bss arrived at the dealer yesterday. Not in time for the July 4th weekend trip that we had tentatively planned but did have a chance to walk through and are very pleased except the slide toppers we ordered were not put on at the factory. Question, has anyone had them installled at the dealer ? Our dealer says they do them fairly frequently and that it's an easy install. Also, does anyone use their side mounted gas grill and does the heat affect the side of the tt? Comments would be greatly appreciated.

Our dealer put the slide-toppers on (RVW) and we have used the grill both ways, attached to the camper and on the picnic table. I was worried about the heat also, but it really never got that hot next to the wall. The wall seemed to get hotter just in the sun!. So should be a problem with either ! - Dave k.

Our local dealer installed the toppers on our 2 slides and they did a very good job. I'm really glad we got them.

We've used the grill several times now and no issues with the heat.

Toppers installed by dealer

My two slide out awning were installed by RVWholesalers. The only change I made, was replace mounting bolts with stainless steel.

I have read where most dealers install the slide-out awnings, my opinion is the reason this is done, it is simple to do, the dealer gets to make extra $$$$ by doing this over the factory's cost of installation.

Congrats on your new RV,

The dealer installed our topper. I use my grill attached to the trailer all the time with no problems.

We, too, had the slide toppers installed by the dealer with no problems was March of this year.

We have used out outside grill attached to the trailer and all though we had the same concerns, the raised lid seems to really shield the heat from the sidewall of the trailer so no problems here either!!

How's the awning above the grill. A lot of grease can go up with the smoke. Any negative issues above? Or do you cook with the awning retracted?

We bought our 8314bss from RVW but did not get the slide toppers at that time. After returning home to Texas we decided we needed them, we went to M & G Trailer Ranch in Clute and they installed them for the same price quoted from RVW and they also took care of a warranty issue while it was there, we dropped it off one day and it was ready the next.
We have never used the outside grill, where do you haul it and how do you connect it to use on the picnic table?

We've used our outside grill each time we've camped this year (4) and we've had no issues with excess heat nor with grease "wafting" up to the awning. If it were unsafe, do you really think FR would continue to put it where it is? We even got a longer hose so we could move it over a bit to the right and hang the table to the left. Works out great for us!

I have an 8286WS with the outside kitchen, and I moved the grill to the back ladder. Now it's away from the awning, and it's away from all the people that like to hang out by the side of the camper.
