They are normally called slide toppers. They work very well at keeping garbage from coming in, when you pull in the slide. If you don't get them, you will need to sweep off, blow off, remove the water, etc. of the slides, prior to pulling them in. It also protects the slide out roof and keeps it a little cooler in the summer.
You will have people tell you they aren't worth it, all it takes is a little time, etc. To me, and a vast number of other people, it is worth it. A couple less items I need to remember to do, when hitting the road.
