slideout drive Rockwood 2006 model 8283

Does anyone have an electric drive as shown in the attached picture. Basically electric motor driving a gearbox/clutch which drives a differential gearbox which drives the rack gears for the slide. I am wondering about what maintenance should be done to the unit ? Looks like there is a plug on the differential gearbox. Not sure if there is suppose to be gear oil in the box or not. Can't find the supplier on the internet as they look like they have been bought out. I like doing preventative maintenance rather than being surprised with a breakdown during a trip.

The only maintenance is to spray your slide tooth mech with some dry lube, that's it.

Yep.
The drive itself is an M tec. M tec was bought by Drew Industries / Lippert in 2011.

The motor and transmission is a Thomson Saginaw model. Lippert may hold control of the design of it also nowdays, although the case construction is now plastic.

M tech drive

The M Tec drive is my interest. It looks like it might hold some sort of gear oil. Has anyone ever tried to check the level or changed the oil ? My unit is approaching 10 years old and was just wondering if anyone has ever had problems with the M tech drive unit ?

The one thing I'm certain of is that it is probably a much better constructed piece than you're going to get today from anyone.

Why not call or send an email to Lippert Components. Despite some of the things they manufacture being total junk I have had some good experiences with their engineering department on a couple of issues. They might be able to send you the original Mtec documentation.

You could always pull that unit off and dissect it, which is probably what I would do
