thanks. this procedure worked out very well, with one modification...
My brads all pulled out with the wood valance. I just used them to tack the wood back up where it goes. Mine had a bead of brown caulk on the top of the door. I used a razor blade to cut it free from the ceiling.
Once I had the door re-attached, I put the valance back up and you would never know it was down. one thing is for certain. If the rest of the camper is built like that little wood valance was, this thing should last me the rest of my life. It was quite a chore getting it to come loose.
