For those with Murphy beds and foam toppers, can you easily close the bed with the topper in place? Does it shift around?
We currently have a hybrid and have toppers on both bunks. To close it, we have to remove the topper. To us, an advantage of the Murphy bed is being able to close it without having to remake the bed every time we open it. If the foam topper interferes with closing, it defeats our purpose.
Has anybody tried an alternate mattress in lieu of the factory mattress? It would be much more expensive than a topper but comfortable sleeping is a requirement for us.

Murphy bed and mattress topper
We have a 2" thick mattress topper and 2 quilts on our Murphy bed. It closes just fine.

Space behind the Murphy Bed
We also have a 2" topper on and two pillows. Our bed closes with no problems; no shifting.
I have found it is easier to make up the bed (as well as easier to get into bed also) just folding the blanket & top sheet down to the foot of the bed. Even with the extra bulk at the foot, everything folds up easily and neatly every time!

Ours has a 1.5" memory foam topper and closes fine. Also bear in mind it also has the 2 pillows on it and closes fine, so a 2 or 3" topper I am sure would close fine too.

We put a 3 inch foam topper on our Queen bed. A little bit tight when you put it up, but nothing to drastic. Latches work.

Did you get a response to this? Did you find a solution? We looked at a model today with a murphy bed and was turned off for the reason you mentioned. So many other features about the models we liked. Just don't want out cat getting down there.
Thanks

Hello,
Did you purchase the murphy bed TT? We have a hybrid and making the bed all the time is becoming cumbersome. Looking at a murphy bed instead. Wondering if it will be a improvement or not.
Thanks

You're responding to a six year old thread, it's not likely they will answer.

Yep, the OP has only made two posts in the Forum and both are in this 6+ year old thread.
Seriously doubt that they are still active members.

We purchased a “Short Queen Bed Extender” from Camping World and it blocks access to the bed storage space when the bed is down. In our newer trailer, the bed storage space is accessible through the pass-thru storage cubbies. We like the Murphy bed concept and have had no further concerns.
I would advise looking at the edges and top of the bed in the lowered position as I doubt a cat (or even a small kitten) could fit into the open space on ours. But other Murphy beds may be different. Only you can determine what fits or doesn’t fit your situation or your cat.
