Spare Tire and Rim stolen

Rim: 14X5.5JJ

Tire: EST205/75R14/C

What is the best way to get a replacement. And what is the best way of preventing it from happening again?

Will your insurance pick up the tab? You can contact Forest River Parts to order a replacement. Or since it's just a spare, get it from Camping World.

To prevent in future, perhaps attach rim to the rack with wheel locks?

Most local tire shops can order you a rim + correct tire for it. We just had to do that for a pair of tires I destroyed AND I decided to upgrade my spare to the proper size.

I recently bought this off Ebay. Not the same size rim, I know. But just an example so you know you don't need to shell out $80-$100 for a rim.

Trailer Rim Wheel 15" 15X6 5 Lug Hole Bolt Steel Highway Wheel White Spoke | eBay

Maybe run a braided cable ( or chain ) through the spokes and the bumper or frame & padlock. Nothing high tech, just make it difficult so the thief will move on.

master makes a spare tire lock for jeeps and other utility vehicles which works well to secure to the rear bumper if that's where its kept. this one is out of Canada but...

https://www.amazon.ca/Master-Lock-26.../dp/B0000AXPDU

I also have one on my propane setup for storage at the seasonal lot and winter storage. last winter 10 trailers had tanks stolen around me.

Just need to make sure the offset is the same as what came with the trailer.

Get the under camper mount. One came on my new 5er and no thief will go through all needed to get it down or even find a way to do it easier.

Not too sure about that Captnjohn. We had our " under the 5th wheel spare " removed , while we slept in a WalMart parking lot. So they will go anywhere if they think they can get away with it.
As a deterrant, we " double nutted " our under carriage installation instead of using the " spin off " wingnut that came as standard.
Have had no further trouble in the past 5 years.

Mine arrived with 2 bolts to hold the spare in place. Just dropping it down is tough! The tire without the wheel is 64#... if they want it that bad maybe it will fall on their head.

You an probably buy the Master Lock type lock at Walmart or most Automotive stores. I had one on my spare for years.
