Supplement to onboard Tank Rinser?

Hadn't considered it before, but I came across an article about using a supplemental tank rinser at the dump station. The article talks about normal dump process using the on-board tank rinser, then adding an external tank rinsing device afterward for assurances, including using the gate valve on the accessory to fill your tanks from the outside (both gates open) and running the exterior flusher to flush both tanks (again) at the same time.

Anyone do this??

I use a Flush King. It removes a lot of waste from the tank even after the factory sprayer is run for a while.

I don't think the factory tank sprayer in our Windjammer is as effective as the Torpedo spinning tank sprayer that I installed in our prior trailer. I don't know what the factory sprayer is, but it doesn't seem to work all that well. The Flush King seems to do a good job getting most the waste out of the tank.

I would never have both the black and gray water tank valves open at the same time. There is too great a chance for cross contamination from the black to the gray tank.

We had a problem with our black tank having too much paper and not enough water. The flusher didn't seem to work, but dumping 3 or 4 buckets of water down the toilet did the trick.

We have a flusher in the black water tank and use a clear adapter before the drain hose. After reading the information about the Flush King, I am wondering what is the advantage is to using it compared to just closing the black valve and allowing the black tank flusher to fill the tank part way and draining?

I empty the black, put a hose down the toilet fill it up with water and empty again. Repeat until flush water runs clear.

We dump the black tank and then rinse with the onboard tank rinser that came with the RV. Every once in a while and at the end of the season I usually just stick a hose down the toilet and let everything clean out a bit more. There are several turns/angles to our black water dump line from the tank to the outlet. I am not sure an extra rinser put on the outlet with a hose attachment would do any good.

I regularly turn the water jet on my sewer solution to spray back into the tank. Doing so clears quite a bit of extra "stuff" out of the tank. Every so often I will go back and forth between running the rinse and back spraying to really get things cleaned up.

I see no benefit to using a sewer outlet connected rinser over the onboard rinser. In both cases, I would have to close a valve to let the tank backfill before dumping again to really do anything.

However, last year I picked up a toilet wand to use for our end of season dumping/flushing, and it seemed to do a pretty good job. I don't use it all the time, but now I'll break it out every few trips to really give it a good clean out, especially if I notice any odours or the tank sensors still registering something.

My outlet is shaped like a Z. Don't believe I'd get much use out of that.

I used to close my black tank valve and fill from outside even though a sticker over valve said not to. One day when I was dumping, my DW came running out of rig with a beet red face, coughing, and vomiting. Seems the sewer gas from the closed off black tank were pushed into the rig. I will never do that again!!!
I clean my tank until I see clear water coming out of the clear elbow. I also put a container of Calgon water softner and a bottle of Dawn dish soap in my tank occasionally. Allow it to fill up with normal use. You would be amazed with what comes out that usually doesn't.

My black tank also gets flushed frequently due to the craftsmanship of Forest River. They plumbed my washer/ dryer into the black tank. Real PIA but it does keep my tank clean. Wash 2 loads of clothes and have to dump.

The flush king allows you to back fill your tanks much faster than your onboard flush. And no, the jet of water will not reach your black tank with any force, but I don't believe it was intended to. It also has an on/off valve for input water, and a clear elbow so you can easily see when it's clean. It's just more convenient all around.

We have actually left it on the rig when our black tank valve failed during a trip. Got us home so we could replace the regular valve.

It might not be worth the cost to some folks, but it is definitely worth it for us

X2. That is really the best way to be certain it is clean. To me, the other methods are convenient and work somewhat but nothing cleans tank & sensors like a good flush out. I use a pvc wand I got from Walmart.
I'm going to see about a Flush King which may help get the gray tank & sensors more clean.

That guy in the video /\ sets things up in certain ways to get certain results.



His fixed drain pipe is sitting higher in the tank (creating a lip) than you would not find on a normal BWT.



His pipe set up placing the gate is not how you would find it in most applications.



Ever notice he turns off commenting on his vids? That would be so because he would get a lot of comments like I just made.

We have found that filling the black tank about half full with the flush king works the best. Couldn't believe the amount of TP we got the first time we use it. Took 15 times to get clear water.
