Smile Till we meet again ! -In Middlebury,IN

Well, Our Rockwood Windjammer -3065W that has the design flaw crack in the side wall and returned to us after a "Factory" repair with more wrong with it than when it left. (See Update on side wall repair in this sub-forum).
Is now heading back for the second try to repair the things that weren't wrong with it the first time it left us!. This time it is being returned to the actual factory. We didn't know that when they say it has to be returned to the "Factory" for repair. Doesn't mean the place of manufacture.-- Rockwood/Flagstaff have a repair facility down the road from the actual factory in Middlebury,IN. Campers are returned to this facility for "Factory" type repairs. It isn't the actual production facility. They do how ever send a "crew" from the factory to this repair location to complete any repairs on returned campers. The only problem being is that the person doing the repair may or may not be doing his/her normal job on the line. Example: The person putting the graphic's on our camper had never done it before so......the graphic's either weren't put on or they were put on in the wrong location.(no guide for them to go by!) sounds crazy but that's what they told me, the person applying the graphic's had no guide to go by and hadn't ever done it before!. The graphic's were the least of our problems though. This repair facility has the ability to build a complete camper just in a 3-4 bay format and not a production line format as in the regular factory.
Honestly I'm not sure what scares me more that it had to go back for repairs or that Rockwood/Flagstaff have enough campers returned that they have a separate facility for these type of repair's to be completed at location away from the actual factory.
Anyway the Warranty Dept at Rockwood/Flagstaff and the manager Doug Fought have been very helpful and forgiving in the handling of our camper repair problems. And have been on board all along to make this right ! That has been the only shining star in this whole deal. So they are trying !
So our camper is on its way to Middlebury,IN to the factory and will be sent down the production line there. They also are having us come out to the factory to get a tour and OK the repair work before they ship it back to NY for us! Yes, You heard it right ,they are having us out to the factory upon completion to OK the repair. They will be putting us up for the night, then upon our approval the camper will be shipped back to NY.
Hopefully its done right this time !! Dave K.

Smile

Sounds like you've been through the mill with this one. Happy to see your pulling with a Hensley, at least you will know after the Rockwood Windjammer is hooked to the TT, it'll follow you and not try to change your direction of travel. You can't beat the Hensley hitches. We had one for our Travel Trailer, but exchanged it for the Hensley BD-3 Trailer Saver for our 5th wheel. It's the best insurance you can have towing a TT or a 5th wheel.
Good luck with your Windjammer, Hope all is well when you get it back.

Your right on with the Hensley Arrow. I would be the first to admit, I wasn't so sure it was worth the cost......but now after having it! I wouldn't pull with anything else !! Its worth every penny and more !

Dave...Good luck with your second trip back to get things corrected.

We have been waiting since Aug 18 for Salem to decide what they are going to do with our water leak / delamination issue. Another call to the dealer tomorrow to TRY to find out any news.

Hope everything works out good for you all , normally repairs at the "Factory" go much better from what I've read here on the forum and from Rockwood themselves have told us ! Were going to the factory this time to OK the unit before it gets shipped back to us ! So all will be ok ! - dave k.

I'm pretty sure that Rockwood's service facility is on the same land where they are manufactured. It is in Millersburg, IN; the service building is <300 yards from the production building.
