Yep, lots of good tire info here. When we took delivery of our trailer, I knew to keep a close watch on the factory tires. I wanted to replace them from the get go, but just couldn't push myself to replace 4 brand new tires. I kept a close watch on them during the summer and we put just under 4000 kms on the trailer. We did a long 10 hour trip on one occasion. We did not have any issues, thank goodness. I only had to top up 2 tires once. There is something to be said for the nitrogen fill holding a more constant psi.
Have looked at many tire reviews and you can find good and bad reports on every ST trailer tire out there for a 15 inch rim.
Leaning towards the Goodyear marathon D's at the beginning of the next season. Good tire care, proper inspection with the recommended cold PSI is all you can really do.

A TPMS is much better than just checking when you stop. You never know if you run over a nail when leaving a rest stop. I wouldn't bother with IR gun check of the tire as you are not getting the hot spot. I have written about this on my blog.
Checking hubs is different as metal conducts heat. rubber is insulator.
Thanks, but I'm perfectly clear on both your statement and my situation. I thank You for the clarification on tire inflation charts. It seems that this system works for me and I'm comfortable with my system. I like living on the edge I guess and trust my Marathons. What did people do before all these new gadgets?...I also thank you for all the time you put in answering question and giving references.... Can you please give me a link to your blog that you mentioned. I believe I'm never to old to learn something. Maybe I will pop for a system, but really in between on more gadgets. But I also take safety very seriously.
