Tompkins campground cowanesque lake

Hi all,
We are looking for site recomandations for this COE campground. Planning on four days before they close in September. Can not see much on the F/S sites from Google maps. Our plan B is Ives Run the end of October...might be a bit more chilly.

We just returned yesterday from 3 days at each park. We frequent both parks a couple of times a year and really like both. Tompkins is a little more rustic than Ives run however it offers full hookups and other sites with electric and water. Most people like the Bench loop the best as it is by the lake. (Hard to score there in the summer).We like the cove loop also as it provides more shade. The knoll loop goes up around a hill and is mostly sunny. I think you'll find it an enjoyable place. The lake is nice also.
Ives Run is a little more up scale but very nice. Most sites provide some shading with younger trees. They also have a primitive area with no services.
All other sites provide electric water and sewer also just water and sewer. I like both equally for their different layouts. Your best bet to get a better view of these parks is to go online to recreation.gov. That's how we book our reservations to these parks since they are federal. They actually have photos of each site you can look at before booking. Weekends are usually full up ahead of time but not always.
