You should be fine. I tow mine with a 2008 H3 (3.7L engine, 4500lbs towing capacity). I get about 10-11 mpg when going 65mph. Been back and forth between Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Alabama. Use my camper at least once a month (so I assume I'm towing more than the average buyer who only tows 1-3 times a year during Holidays). Can I go faster when towing? Yes (but mileage suffers and you shouldn't be towing any faster than 65 anyway). Is it noticeable? Yes, but I really didn't notice a difference when I towed using a 2003 Ram 1500 with 5.7L Hemi (only get 9-10 mpg as well).

Like several others in this thread, I started with a Tacoma - thinking it would be fine. In reality, after towing twice, I decided it was only "adequate". Hills and side-winds were an issue. I didn't feel I had enough of a safety-margin to be comfortable with my family in the vehicle. I went from this:

To this:

I couldn't be happier.

My biggest concern was not the hills, it was the interstate travel with semi-trucks passing on one side and a concrete barrier on the other side.... To me, that was no place for "adequate".

I started with a 2016 Colorado and very happy with the setup. Their V6 has plenty power. As far sway, no really an issue with semi trailers; the biggest push I felt were with Dualy Pick Ups and Boxed Trucks. Other than that is a pleasure to drive and I have to watch myself on not going over 65MPH.

I might trade the Colorado V6 gasser for the Colorado Duramax oiler this year...

We tow our 1905 with a Honda Ridgeline - at 2988lbs dry with 900lbs cargo I find it adequate on flat roads but she works hard on those hills. Seriously thinking about Ford F-150 3.5l Ecoboost in the Fall.

That is a fantastic ARB bumper. I have one on my H3 as well. Also very nice going from a Tacoma to a Tundra, both very sharp trucks :-)

Looking at getting the 2.8 baby duramax Colorado as well (or perhaps a Canyon).

Thanks so much - I really liked the Tacoma. If it wasn't for the towing, I would still have it.

The Minimax 2.8 has a 7,500 Lbs towing capacity and 7,000 lbs for the V6. For what I have been reading on their forums is, that is awesome for towing. Cavernous torque at low RPMs. I think is 360 Ft/Lbs but 180 HPs. The V6 is 305 HPs and 280 Ft//Lbs torque. Just typing from the top of my head but I know the numbers are closed to those. Some people report high 20s to low 30s MPGs on the Diesel (empty weight) and I got about low to high 20s MPGs with the gasser.

I think GM knock this one out of the ballpark. Got mine, 16 model in 15, 2WD with Z82 towing package and G80 Eaton Rear End Locker for about $28,600. The wife is the main driver and love every bit of it.

Towing 2306 with a Ford Flex

You will be fine towing with your truck as you have described. I have a 2306 and have a Ford Flex that can tow 4,500 pounds. I have an EAZ Lift weight distribution system so my Flex does not sag.

My gas mileage runs about 11-13 mpg depending on the road. I can tell I am pulling the weight but gotta work with what I have.
