TPMS recommendations?
See a ton of threads suggesting metal valve stems, but not many recommendations for what tire pressure monitoring system.
Have a new (to me) g19fb and replacing the original (1000 mile) tires this week.
Will get new stems, but curious what system people like for these trailers? Want to ensure I get good real-time updates and most of what I see specifically claims not for trailer.

We have been using the TST 507 system for the past 5-6 years. I upgraded to the color monitor last year and upgraded to the flow-through valves on out 5th wheel. We love this system. On several occasions we have been warned of two tires going flat and had time to find a safe place to pull off to repair the tires. I always turn the system on the night before we are to travel so that I can make sure all tires are properly aired up. I also have this system on our TV too. I will not leave on a trip without a TMPS system We have had to change the batteries twice since we purchased the system. No problems so far from the monitor or the sensors.

If you will do a Search on this site for TPMS, you’ll find bunches of recommendations for the 3-4 available systems. I use the TST 507 system as mentioned although I’m still using the monochrome monitor. This

The 3 most popular here on the forum seem to be the TST 507, EezTire and Tire Minder systems. If you do a search for “TPMS” here you’ll have days worth of reading. Lots of YouTube videos out there, too.
I just installed the TST 507 with colour monitor and 4 cap sensors. Seems to work well as long as you install the repeater. I find it takes about 3 minutes for the monitor to pickup all 4 cap sensors though. After that, it updates every few seconds.
If your in Canada though, be aware that the customs duty on these systems is about 25% and they aren’t cheap to start with. I was shocked when I got the bill. Account for that when comparing prices from US and Canadian sellers.

I added a simple and low cost system to mine. Tymate. I only want to know if the pressure is decreasing for some warning. I don't use it for anything else. I had an even lower cost system on my last trailer and loved it. Again, I am only looking for advanced warning and need nothing to complex. Yes, the batteries can go dead so I keep spares and change them each year. After years of having nothing
but checking my mirrors often I am happy to just have something. Just my $0.02.

Tst, works great. Had the metal stems on the old trailer. Still have original rubber stems on the new one. Already done almost 10k miles since new with no issue. When I replace the tires I'll still get metal stems.
Mine are non flow through.

Another vote for the TST. The biggest piece of advice I can offer is to watch temperatures and pressures for unusual changes.

I'm another TST 507 fan. Don't regret spending the money at all. It's prevented tire damage twice. Once for a leak at the valve stem and the other a screw in the tire tread.
Factor in the price of a new Goodyear Endurance tire and any resulting damage if the tire came apart at highway speed, it was a good deal even at it's price.
My neighbor recently hauled home a new Rockwood TT and it came with a TST 507 TPMS that had internally mounted wheel sensors. Don't know if the Dealer added it or if it is now a factory installed option. That's the way I think it should be, factory installed just like on auto's and light trucks today.

We're with the McBees, Tymate and metal stems after upgraded tires installed. Nothing fancy with the readout but gives some piece of mind being able to see if one tire is getting way out of whack from the others. I did the repeater but really don't know if we would have needed it.

I have the EEZ RV Products EezTire T515 system with 8 anti-theft sensors (4 on my 25' trailer and 4 on my Tundra) that has been very reliable for the past 3 years. I change batteries in the sensors each season (uses CR1632 button cells) and they work well. Once the unit finishes a 3-4 minute search for each tire, they update sequentially in under a minute for all 8 sensors. I've never had a blow-out, but have been warned about low tire pressure more than once. I usually keep my eye on the tire temperature as well. They now have a color monitor as well, but I still have the monochrome version which works just fine.

What's really important with a TPMS system is whether or not it makes a rapidly decreasing pressure a priority and doesn't wait until it's turn.
A good check to see if your TPMS does this is to turn on the monitor, let it gather signals and display pressures. Then unscrew sensor, or depress valve core if flow through sensors, then see how quickly you get an alarm.
The quicker the better. No point in sending an alarm if the system forces each sensor to wait it's turn and the tire has already disintegrated. At 60 mph waiting one minute means that under inflated tire has traveled a mile and not necessarily ALL of the tire.
Not saying your system is like that but there are more than a few inexpensive units that are.

Thanks for the quick responses. Ordered one and plan to test it out before our next big trip!

I had a TireMinder - gave it away and bought the TST 507 color. Great unit.

So do you know if any of these work with the New Chevy Silverado's with the towing package? I am taking delivery tomorrow and was reading the manual and it seems like the application will "search" for the TPMS.
So if there is a brand that is compatible with the Chevy this lazy forum user would be very interested.
