TPMS sensor in spare tire

I just purchased a 8332 sig, I set up the TST for the four tires. I did not try to set up the spare mostly because I forgot about it.Now I am wondering if the spare has a sensor. I am not close to the trailer to check it.

I have not heard of any from the factory TPMS that includes the spare, with that said there may be.

Most sensors go dormant when they are not moving. So a spare tire sensor wouldn't do much good. I do know that when running on a spare (blown tire stored in the truck) the sensor shows as not communicating. So the bouncing doesn't wake it up. Not saying it is impossible though.

TPMS sensor in spare tire

I have a TST cap sensor on both my truck’s spare and the camper spare. Both are programmed and are reporting.

The factory spare does not have a TPMS sensor in it.

Good to know. My internal sensors only work when moving. I would be curious as to if I could train one of those to my system. I'm not so concerned with the spares because I check them twice a year but it would be nice should one need to go into service.

My factory installed TST internal sensors report without being moved. When I get to the storage lot, I power up the display, and before I get connected and start pulling out, they start coming online. I know because I have had low pressure warnings start sounding. Fortunately I’m less than 1/2 mile from the house where my compressor brings them back up quickly.

I have a TST sensor on the spare now. Last year I had to use the spare to replace a blown tire. Unfortunately the spare only had 49 psi...should be 80. No place to get air so I limped home via back roads at less than 50 mph. Due to the low pressure the tire was driven about 50 miles severely overloaded. Cost a bunch to replace but still had to discard that tire.
