Trailer tires for 8312 TT

What would be the safest AMERICAN tire made for my RV?

I'm looking for load range and brand. I'm looking to replace my "China bombs" before I have issues. I currently have Carlise ST225 / 75 R15. Good tread and wear, just heard BAD THINGS .

Thanks

Wait for it.... you probably should do a forum search for tires. You may be opening a never ending thread. Tons of info on the forum.

You probably have not had any problems with your Carlisle's. Great tires. Really great tires.

After doing much research into trailer ST tires I replaced my original equipment tires with Carlisles Trail HD. You might want to look at reviews and the experience others have had with Carlisle and/or other brands and invest in a TPMS if you haven't already. As someone mentioned above Goodyear Endurance are made in the USA but have only been out since January. I won't invest in any tire that doesn't have several years of a proven track record.

My $0.03

Every tire shop I have talked with regarding trailer tires has nothing but good things to say about Carlisle. Even if they are MiC. At least they are not some fly by night company that makes 100,000 tires then folds up.

Look at all this discussion on tires. At least 10 pages of results.

Tires & replacement

Lookin2camp,
With 15" rims you have only one choice in my mind. I have had my last ST tire, seen to many failures which typically lead to damage that is expensive to replace. The answer is an LT tire. The only ONE that you can find that covers all the load ratings is an LT Nokian brand, model Rotiiva AT. It is slightly larger (235/75R15), but unless you have close tolerances around your tires, you should be OK. .8 of an inch wider, .6 of an inch taller. With this tire you will have: peace of mind, coverage on weight, speed rating way past what anyone should do with a trailer, longevity - won't replace anytime soon as age does not typically affect passenger tires, safety - no stops along the interstate to change them out. You won't ever hear any comments about regretting having LT tires on their camper! ST tire fans & dealers place blame on the consumer for not operating the tire in the proper ways, but just look as you travel, no everyone who travels fails to air up their tires! Check out the posts on this forum too, lots of opinions. Hope this helps.

We have Carlise HD ST Tires load range E rated at 75 mph. Travelled over 3000 miles with them and no problems.

I ran Carlisle RH (before the HD) for tens of thousands without a problem. The HDs are even better. I rarely hit 70 MPH except when passing although they are rated at 75 mph. My truck sweet spot while towing is 63 but generally the cruise is set at 65.

I replaced my MICs when I bought the 5th wheel with Carlisle Trail HDs 4yrs & 15000+ miles ago.
No problems. Lots of tread & 3 years left to replacement.

Time and Time again people brag about Carlisle tires. That must mean something. I don't recall a bad word about them.

I run Carlisle but have not tried that long. I always replace between Seanson 4 and 5.
Generally about 25,000 - 30,000 miles.

Today I changed out my Castle Rocks (65 psi with 1900 miles) with the Goodyear Endurance tires (80 psi). ST225/75R15 E rated vs the D rated Castle Rocks. Took a short 60 mile run and was very impressed. The ride seems smoother and more stable. They seemed to handle the bad roads much better than the old tires. Had metal stems put on also. The stock rims are good for the extra 15psi. Tomorrow I will reinstall my TPMS after I recalibrate for the extra psi and they are cold. Will keep updating as the miles are put on.
