Transportation from staging ground info?
Well, my unit is completed, just waiting to be transported to the dealer.
Does anyone know if the dealer can find out when it will be picked up and/or approx when it will arrive? I had to get the info right from FR that it was built as the dealer says that they just order and they just show up...wondering if they, if they want, can "track" it once it comes off the assy line???

Your dealer sucks and lies. My salesperson gave me a 5 day window when my unit was being built. scheduled a plant tour for the last of those days and happened to see my actual unit being prepped and rolling off the line.
Mine took one week for delivery. I have heard there is a shortage of delivery drivers and that the dealer is responsible for delivery not the factory? dont know about all that for sure? In another thread someone else claimed they were told 4 weeks for delivery.
im only an hour and 1/2 from the factory if that helped or made quicker.

..dealer says that they do not arrange for transportation, that it is done from the factory. The dealer has been great so far, might be that the salesperson does not know how to get that deeply involved or chooses not to. I guess it is possible that they choose not to as it could create a sh&t storm getting that info for every customer..

The factory handles transport. The factory also know when yours is scheduled for delivery. Mine sat at the factory for 4 weeks prior to being delivered.

from the email from the factory, it was my impression that they do know but can't say, that it is up to the dealer to tell....factory says I should be hearing from the dealer "soon"
Wow 4 weeks? that is a insanely log time :O

My dealer said he had no idea when it was coming but should be soon, I laughed at him over the phone and asked he could find out? I emailed the factory and got a reply later that afternoon. (the factory (product manager) copied in the dealer.)
It took 13 weeks from order to PDI for us. Ordered January 10th.

Left Perrysville, OH this morning at 8am heading west on I-80. about 40% of I-80 in Indiana looks like this right now:
From 8am until 10 am when we got to Elkhart, we passed probably 50 TT's and 5vrs heading east. So they ARE coming!
Got this not-so-hot not pic of TT's located on the west end of town. Taken from the west-bound service plaza in Elkhart.

What is this email address for the factory to request the build date of a unit?

Hum..I'm a retired school bus driver. I wonder how much FR pays for transport. I could use some gas money.

I had been in contact with the Salem Villa product manager for a year prior to my purchase with many Emails. I am sure you would need to get the contact info for the Rockwood division.

FR uses transport companies and the drivers for those are sub contractors. They specify the truck, insurance, and other requirements you need to have. I have talked to a few of those guys and they have a lot of gripes, the most of which is low pay despite a shortage of drivers since 2015 or earlier. This whole industry operates on the cheap business model so watch what you wish for.
As it was explained to me a dealer can either have FR arrange the shipping or arrange it themselves.
If FR arranges it the transport company they engage picks it up at the factory, then takes it to one of their local staging yards. Who knows how long it can take from that point until a driver is assigned and it actually leaves that yard or gets to your dealer. In FR's eyes it shipped.
Some dealers send their own people or contract people to go and pick up units. By the time ours came off the line I had been jacked around so much on our ordered unit, my dealer sent his guy out from PA and returned with it the same day.

Thanks for the info. Doesn't sound like it's worth the wear and tear.

During factory tours a couple weeks ago,it was explained that there are several transport companies. Each manufacturer chooses who transports their units.
The amount of completed campers in the Elkhart, Goshen, Shipshewana area is unbelievable. Each manufacturer has multiple plants, 8 to 15. Each plant has acres of completed units. In addition,as someone already posted, there are staging yards. These are huge fields loaded with hundreds upon hundreds of campers.
Problem is, this is the busiest time of the year for the manufacturers. People get the itch in January and February when they go to the rv shows and they all order at the same time. Big bottleneck.
