You'll need to learn how to be real conservative with your water use.

As for your tanks falling out...fill them up and try it!

While there have been reports of tanks falling out, it is really a very small percentage of campers compared to the overall numbers of trailers made that have had this happen.

My kitchen and bathroom is back to back, maybe it just has one 45 gallon? I know it sure fills up quick to be 90.

What is the brand and model number of your trailer?

That will help us help you figure this out...

2017 Rockwood 8298WS. We are the second owners, and this is only our second camper, so we are still green at this. Lol
Lots of things we are learning on the fly.

Just looked up your 5'ver...

It appears to only have one 45 gallon gray tank.

As for the tanks falling out...I don't think you'll have that problem.

Here is the site that I looked at the specs...

We like our home water so always travel with full water, no issues so far in 3 different campers. I do wish I could see the mounts in the current one but I trust it enough that I am not opening the bottom just to look.
The only way I would be concerned about the weight is if I was too close to the limits on the TV or trailer

Air itself doesn't weigh much but trying to push it out of the way creates tons of drag.

The above is how a somewhat aerodynamic car behaves when it's speed is increased and how much more HP is required (HP produced by fuel consumption). An RV, be it coach or truck/trailer, is no where as aerodynamic as a car, even an old box of a station wagon.

Carry the water and if worried about fuel economy, slow down.
In another world... Top alcohol dragsters make about 4000 HP at 280 MPH and top fuel at 9-10,000 HP at 330 MPH....only difference is wind resistance.

So, bottom line for me will be....Fill tanks to the max and drive around, periodically inspect them, until warranty period is over. Then be a little more conservative. I'll probably stick about 20g of water in my Reliance vessels in the bed of the pickup, and partially fill the fresh tank then.

The empty weight of your trailer is figured with all tanks empty, except the propane tanks, which must be full when the unit is weighed, and all standard equipment included with the camper.

So your empty weight does not include any water at all, fresh, black or grey.

If you have (3) 40 gallon tanks, that is around 960 lbs if they are full. We only carry about 10 gallons of water and try to keep the grey and blackwater tanks empty.

Can't even imagine why anyone would have all 3 tanks full.

GVW is the max the trailer can carry. Doesn't matter where the weight comes from.

There have been a lot of horror stories about tanks hitting the pavement. I would get under ther and see how much the empty tank will move around. I would fill the tank and get under there and inspect the supports and look close to see if it is sagging or spreading the supports.

Apparently I am lucky. My FW tank holds 45 gallons, and when it's full, it is tight with zero sag. I have put on a lot of miles with a full fresh tank and partially galley, gray and black tanks.

You should be able to travel with full tanks, but I guess that's optional in the industry.

I had the tank inlet on my FW tank crack. The first thing warranty asked me was, "do you travel with water in your tank." I had to point out what the manual says. It is not prohibited.

However, I usually carry about a half tank of FW to use the bathroom and kitchen while on the road. I did get a new tank, but I haven't needed it yet since I fixed the original.

I am curious why they think it would matter.

To pin blame on the end user. To rationalize denying warranty claims. It is written pretty clearly that you should minimize how much you travel with but it does not mention how much or explicitly prohibit a full tank. In the end, they relented. I got a new tank that is in my garage attic.

I usually travel with fresh water half full. The black and grey tanks get a gallon of hot water and dish soap, to keep them clean as we drive. After I empty them.
