Ultralight 2608BS Fireplace cover

Just got back from a 2800 mile trip from MA to TN via 81. Cross to VA up through NJ back to MA. On our last leg the fireplace cover fell off. This has happened a few times so far but this time it came completely off and bend the metal brackets that hold them on. Has one one had this issue? Any good ways to prevent this or fix it? I’d like to avoid buying a whole new cover if I can. .

We had the same issue with our Rockwood 2608. One bracket actually twisted so much it snapped off. This was during our warranty so it was replaced.

Now on travel days we remove the cover and wrap in a blanket and put it on the dinette cushions or table. It’s a bit inconvenient but it works!

Got any pictures of it? I'd like to check mine and maybe come up with a way to avoid it but not sure where to look.

Thanks

Here’s 2 photos. That’s right before it broke off the frame.

Ours didn’t actually pull off. My guess is the vibration would cause the brackets to twist and usually at least one corner would be off.

From your pics, it looks similar to the one I have in my 2513s. It is secured by tabs at the bottom and screws through the top tabs to the main housing. I know because I had to remove my fireplace for replacement. Died after a few uses. Should have the replacement in a few weeks. Might see if you can use a self-tap screw through the top tabs.

We have a 2608BS. After a few seasons and trips, we found a black screw on the floor near the door. The next move of the trailer after finding the screw, the cover came loose on one side. We found out where the screw came from, replaced, and tightened both sides. Added a bit of locktite when we got home.

The clips are offered in various thickness sizes. Place on top of glass panel and fixed. Paint black. I did and they work!

Smile Fireplace glass

On our 2021 Ultra lite 5th wheel 2891BH This just started happening on our trip from Az to Ma. We were blaming it on the so smooth roads. Such as I 70 in Illinois & Indiana. A few times I thought we would fall apart the sections were so bad. We found our cover laying against the furniture cover for the kennel it also had bent tabs.

I've retired from trucking after 55yrs. so know how bad the roads are. My question is why are the axles so far forward and why no air ride trailer suspensions. We are new to the R V world and willing to hear all sides.

We too have Rockwood Ultra Lite 2608bs & had same issue fireplace glass front bouncing off top left side when traveling.

Someone on forum suggested mirror clips!! We spray painted them black & used 2 on each side along the top of glass. Problem solved!

Thanks

What an excellent Idea and small cost. And don't have to wait for an appointment at a dealer

The glass is "attached" is simply resting on screws..so the bouncing when traveling lifts glass over the screws. Poor design, but thanks to forums for great ideas!!
