Upgrading battery to lithium

Does anyone know what brand the 2019-20 Rockwood Ultralights use for charging converters? A recent article by RV electricity guru Mike Sokol https://www.rvtravel.com/rv-electric...thium-battery/ says that you need to be aware if your converter has a setting for lithium batteries which is determined by what company makes the converter. Thanks in advance!

I’ve been looking at 2020 Rockwoods since my wife and I saw one at the Cleveland RV Show. Nobody has mentioned anything about lithium compatible converters so my guess is that they are not compatible. But now I’m curious to know.
Do you already have lithium batteries or just thinking about a conversion?

The good news is, swapping out the converter is usually fairly trivial and not very expensive.

I went nuts and not only installed a new inverter, I put it as closet to the batteries as I could get it. I saw a huge jump in battery charging speed by doing so.

Still doing my research, no purchase yet.

I’m not even sure where my converter is located. There is a box mounted on the inside of my a frame up front. I’m hoping that’s it?

Converter is behind the fuse/breaker panel.

If you go to the Battle Born site they will tell you if your converter will work with lithium batteries.

Lithium converter

WFCO makes a converter/charger compatible with lithium iron phosphate batteries.
WF9850L2 is the complete unit
WF8959L2-MBA is the replacement mother board for all WF 8900 series power centres.
I have the board replacement and 2 Lynac lithium technologies 100AH batteries. It was the best conversion deal out there. Your existing charger will not supply enough voltage to properly charge the lithium batteries.

Progressive makes one too. It's the Wildkat model. Personally, I would never use a WFCO.

This one converts to lithium profile with a jumper change.

I did the same. I get the full 60A out of my converter right until the batteries are full.

Markb422- Went to the site, but didn't see any reference to your suggestion. Can you provide a link? Or did you mean to call them? Thanks.

In the boating world, the fuse/circuit breaker panels are separate from the conveters (power supplies). It makes things a bit easier when figuring out where to place everything. As ependydad mentioned getting the converter close to your batteries is helpful. This is true for all of your higher amperage runs. Plus, copper is expensive so if I can have a shorter run of thick wire I am happier. You can get some really nice converters that are very kind to your batteries when you go that route.
