valve stems replaced

Thanks to all the info I have read on these forums, I got rid of the rubber stems and had them replaced with the metal ones on our Rockwood 8289WS. After a blowout last summer we had Goodyear Endurance load range E put on the rig (again after reading the info here). Used our 3 point leveling system as a jack, took off the tires and ran them to our repair shop near us. Within an hour had the tires back on with the proper stems. Now I feel a whole lot more comfortable putting 80IBS psi in the tires.

Hmm... do the standard stems really have issues with pressures that high?

I'm guessing the OP has TPMS sensors installed. Their added weight can adversely affect rubber stems.

Really do not know myself but after reading numerous post here and speaking with our shop who spoke with their tire supplier, we swapped them out. Getting ready for a 1664 mile trip to Key West so I guess we're just trying to prepare. The lead mechanic at the shop we use came to our place and took a few pictures of what we had then called me a few days later and recommended we swap them out for metal stems.

Rockford, we don't have TPMS but I probably should have done that while we had the tires off. Would you happen to know if the external mounted ones are any good. Could get them before we head out in a few weeks.

TST 507 https://tsttruck.com/

We have had the TST 507 external mount on our trailer for a couple of years now. Never had a problem once I got it programed.
I think I would freak out if I had to tow without it now.

+1 what MtBiker said about "the freak" I'd have leaving home without our tire sensors.
They're also external, mounted to the metal valve stems. (rather than rubber stems)

We'd never have known until too late that we'd picked up a fencing staple on the road. Low pressure alarm allowed me to get pulled over before tire was completely flat.

We're happy with the 4-sensor package from EEZTire, easy to use and program.
This one from Amazon
