If you have a tank type water heater, you can't just take a very long shower like in your house, as has been pointed out. It's a lot of times only a six gallon water heater tank. Most people take what is called a "navy shower". You wet down good, then turn off the water at the handheld shower wand. Soap up, lather, hair etc. Now turn the water back on and rinse off good. Turn off water at faucet knobs now (not the wand)
If the water turns cold way too quick, you may have a common problem of the crossover valve (many time located behind the water heater tank) being set incorrect for normal usage.
