Can anyone tell me the approximate cost of having a new 6 gallon water heater installed?

It depends on whether you want a dual heat or gas only water heater and whether you have one in there now.

Obviously installing one from scratch would involve running gas, DC power and/or AC power, as well as cutting a huge hole in the camper wall.

I have a gas and electric now and would want the same. Not sure I would want another Atwood, however. It has been nothing but trouble . Only 2 1/2 years old and electric is shot and gas has never ignited properly. Very scary backfire about half the time.
