Water leak

Does anyone know what size the clear braided line and the oitiker clamp size is on the water line coming in from the city water inlet. I have a small drip and need to remove the clamp, it says 17.5 on the clamp but not sure what size that is, and cut the line and put a new clamp on and crimp it on the line. Want to know the size of water line and size of clamp to buy before I start cutting.thks in advance.Click image for larger version

Or use a crippling tool. I’ve had good luck just tightening the bands when I’ve had small drips. If yhe factory tool is out of spec, which could happen easily, you’ll have leaks. Good luck, but try it before you cut and replace anything.

That is 1/2” braided PVC water line. The inside diameter is 1/2” and the outside diameter is 5/8”. It is designed to be used with standard 1/2” PEX crimp or clamp rings.

I got this kit off Amazon because I had the hardest time figuring out the correct size to use. I think when I spliced a shut off valve to my toilet I used the 15.3-18.5mm. The OD is too big for the 1/2 inch pex clamp, I could not get it over the tubing..

When I swapped out my water heater bypass I changed out the tubing and hardware because the ID like stated above is 1/2 inch, but the fittings are much smaller so its no wonder they leak, which it was doing on multiple connections.

The clamps are for PEX tubing. The braided PVC should use common hose clamps.

I agree.... there in lies the problem. The manufacturer uses clamps. I’ve had luck replacing the clamps on the white hose with worm gear clamps available at auto parts stores. The ones for gas line works best.

No! You want 360 deg. clamping force which you don't get with screw clamps

If you purchase clamps for fuel injection hose they are a screw clamp that provides 360 deg clamping.

The worm drive clamps tend to cut into hose and often need to be retightened which makes them cut deeper.

Right Titan Mike. That’s the ones I’ve used. I misspoke calling them worm gears. Thanks

Have same leak on a 2021 G16BH. Didn't realize until I had to park overnight with trucks on a highway shoulder and the pooled water made its way into the bathroom floor.
