Water-logged tongue jack

Rain water got past the access cover (hole) on the top of the jack, filled the gear box with water which drained out through the motor.
I e-mailed Laurie McCullough at RVWholsalers who then called Forest River. My new jack arrived yesterday and I installed it today. The new jack has an "O" ring on the access cover, but I'm getting a jack cover to protect it further.
So far on my new Rockwood I have replaced a stove igniter (broken shaft), stabilizer motor (water damage) and now a tongue jack (also water damage). I still need to find out why the front slide window won't catch fully open. RVWholesalers has been quick to resolve all these issues and I have no complaints with their service.

I had the same problem with water in my jack, however, I was told that it would not be covered under the warranty.

I'm sorry to hear that you weren't treated fairly. Was it your dealer who told you that or Forest River? I just heard from FR and they won't require the old jack be sent to them. Just a picture of the damage will do.
