Plenty of room in there.

I am working towards my cover. I just bought the property across the street from my home which has a pool on the property, so, I am filling in the pool and will pour a slab for the building or cover soon. My question is that I see the ones here do not have a driveway to cover. Does that work ok? It would be much less expensive by keeping grass up to the cover, but wondered if it creats large ruts in ground by not having paved driveway? My somn bought the house and we are splitting the land with pool for my use and he is renting out the house. Splitting land by full legal transfer of property. Saving him money by not dealing with pool and allows me land for rv cover.

Ours is grass & dirt ( for now ). Intend to put some sort of gravel base down in the near future. First time I drove the truck out of the cover after a rain, I got immediately stuck. Glad I was able to switch to 4 wheel drive. Last time we went camping, rain was forecast for the evening before departure. Pulled the trailer out to the driveway, because I didn't want to take the chance of getting the trailer stuck.

Looks good! I can't figure out if I need to build my own or buy a metal one. I need 24x36 and 15 feet tall at the lowest edge of the roof to accommodate my TT and boat side by side. I'll check on those Carolina Carports.

Mine is 24 wide & 36 long on 12 foot legs. It's about 17 tall at the center high point. So I'm sure it's less than 15 high at the sides. You'll need taller legs.

I had a truckload of the recycled asphalt delivered for the base. This stuff packs very good and a great ground moisture barrier.

Did you by chance remove the sod first !!! When we extended our driveway for RV parking I had the sod & topsoil removed before they brought in the crushed concrete !!!
Crushed concrete Looks Great,,, but does not pack real well,,, I have to be very careful with my 0 turn mower,,, or I will be raking !!!
I will never be snow plowing there !!!

No what I did was cut the grass on the lowest setting and I have it packed down to around 4 inches. After the carport is set you can square the pad better and pack the edges where the product stays in place. Hopefully you will get a good rain before the grass grows much, this gives you a good idea what will wash from the eaves. Rake that up and pack the edges again, treat the perimeter with some Roundup and you should be good.

Yes that would depend on your ground conditions. My ground is high and very compacted.

Wow! Yours looks so big already, I hate to think what an extra couple feet will do to the overall size and cost.
I need to set up the camper canvas on the boat and get some accurate measurements.

Had multiple people ask about my cover. So here are the details.
base is 35' long with a 1' overhang of the cover material. So 36' of coverage.
24' wide. As you can see in the pic, that is wide enough to get both truck & trailer under cover. I can put slides out on non truck side anytime. If I move truck, all slides & awnings can be put out.
Legs are 12'. The angled supports connect to the legs at the 10' 4" height. So if ya gotta get right next to the wall, that's where you'll run out of height. Those supports angle inward and attach to the rafters at about 14' ( I have vertigo and just couldn't get to that point for an accurate measurement ). They seem to come in about 2' from the wall. The peak is 17'. But there are cross beam supports that are at 15' ( that will be the max height anything goes inside ). Not sure how wide the 15' height can be used, as the supports are angled and welded to the rafters at their ends. At those weld points, you lose 5" of height, and then of course, the slope of the roof begins to subtract from the height after that. Still, down the center, that 15' height is pretty wide.
East facing I just stayed with the 3' drop in the cover material. On the west side, I added two 3' panels for a total 9' drop of coverage.
There are different "levels" of structural strength. What they called "certified" was supposed to be the top level. That's what I ordered. That got 12ga steel over 14ga. All the legs and roof beams get braces & struts vs every 2nd or 3rd getting braced. You also get earth anchors. That's just some really big long spikes driven through the base rail into the ground. Not sure, but I got maybe 15 of those on each side. The contract I got said it would withstand winds to 130 MPH ( which I do NOT believe ), and 30 lbs/sq ft snow loading on the roof. Not an issue here in TX.
It took 3 workers about 8 hours to erect. With our 8.25% tax here the final cost was just under $4200. I ordered it through Mayberry Metal Structures. They in turn subbed it out of Waco TX. My contact at Mayberry was Larry Johnson. His email was larry.mayberrymetalstructures@gmail.com
Had to prep the site myself. Had to be within 4" of level front to back & side to side.
Had it just over a year, and still very happy with it.
End of thread hijack
