Who has "Cream Cabinets" in their Rockwood?
We have a 2008 Rockwood 8315SS with Cream Cabinets. After only a few monnths of ownership the cream laminate is curling up around the fridge and the breaker box. So far none of the cabinets have this problem, but I am worried about the long haul.
The dealer took pics about a month and a half ago and was going to send them to Forest River. Still no word on how this will be fixed.
Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what was done by their dealer and/or Forest River.
Thanks.
Rebecca

I follow just about every thread here and haven't heard anyone mention it. The cabinets would be a paint finish though, wouldn't they? I've never looked closely at them.

We have them in our 2004 Flagstaff and have no problems with the finish of them anywhere in the trailer.

I have cream (vinyl) trim on our 5th wheel. Had same problem and used a hair dryer to heat the vinyl and a flat piece wood (Cuticle stick) to flatten out the wrinkles. Take your time and the wrinkles will smooth out. You might have to loosen a few screws around cabinet hinges. Worked for me!!!

Well the dealer tried the same thing, heating it up and then placed cream painted trim pces over that. Well now the trim pces are wrinkling. So Rockwood is sending out all new surround for the fridge area. We also had the slideout trim pces wrinkle up at the bottom, they replaced the one that wrinkled and by the time they got that one on the other one started doing it too. Now that one is on order.
So far the only other problem we have had is our kitchen table cracked down the middle (wierd), so a new table top is on order.
Still couln't love a trailer more than I love this one! We are going to plan some long trips for 2008 now that we have so much more room!
Thanks for the suggestions.

My 8280SS has the off white interior. One of the things my wife just had to have. Free standing dinette, stainless, and white (cream?) interior. I wasn't that crazy about it but I'm getting use to it. It is bright.
Anyway, the only place I've had a problem is around the CD player, radio, TV tuner thingie. Whatever you call the thing. Had wrinkles around it when I got it. I smoothed them out myself a few times but they keep coming back. Maybe I'll try the heat and a little glue next spring. That unit has been in and out so meny times the screw holes are about stripped out and it's time for some inserts. All the rest of the vinyl is holding up good.

They have a vinyl coating over them. They should have painted them and this problem would probably not exist.

I have a 2008 Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8314SS with the off-white cabinets. It appears that the cabinet doors are MDF with a spray coating over them. Same for the curved corner edges, but the rails and stiles of the cabinet have a thermofoil applique over them. That is the part that is peeling. The wrinkles started by the heat generating devices; converter, frig, and radio. It has now spread to every cabinet including the bedroom cabinets. In several places it is not just peeling, but the foil has shrank leaving bare gaps of wood at the rail and stile intersections. I guess my only option at this point is to remove the thermofoil and spray paint the rails and stiles. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in the quality of the cabinets in this trailer.

It isn't just the cream-colored cabinets, as I saw the same thing in a cheap Palamino fifth with a pretend 'wood' finish, a BRAND NEW one still on the lot! The idea of using a vinyl film over "wood" is simply a very bad idea. Cheap, but that is only good for the manufacturer, bad for the customer.

we too have the cream cabinets with the vinyl shrinking away from the edges...I have tried the heat, without success, I have more than a few places affected by the shrinkage.,,was wondering exactly what was under the vinyl and have considered possibly taking a sample of the vinyl and seeing if I could match paint to it....If anyone has tried it, please let me know...I was told that contact cement along with dryer would do the trick,,,it didnt...

one area above the refrig. is wrinkled and is shrinking in my 8315SS,but that is the only place that i see this happening. i would think this is going to happen no matter what i do. given the extreme temp. changes in the trailer when we are not using it,(90's or more in the summer to who knows how low in the winter) that vinyl coating is going to expand and contract.maybe i'll try to see if refrig porcelain touch up paint will cover up the 1/4" bare wood that is exposed.
not sweating the small stuff...life is too short !
