Windjammers and bumper bike racks
We have a 2016 Windjammer 3008W and wonder if anyone has tried to install a hitch receiver on the bumper to place a bike rack in it? We are tired of putting bikes in the back of the truck or placing them inside the trailer when we're traveling. We have an awesome 3-bike bike rack that fits in a hitch and want to make use of it. We are taking the TT to a dealer to see if they can weld a hitch receiver on the bumper. They stated they may have to add additional braces as well. Will this damage the integrity of our bumper/frame? How do you carry bikes or can anyone suggest a solution?

In this thread, see the hitch my dealer installed on my 2012 Roo 19 (post #2) and on my 2016 Mini Lite 2503S (post #12).

People will be QUICK to point out that this will probably void your frame's warranty, but in my opinion, my frame is now much stronger than it was before.
There are other options, too.
Lippert makes a rack that goes on the tongue, around the jack. See here:
https://www.lci1.com/jack-it
Arvika also makes tongue mounts. See here:
Travel Trailer – Quality Bike Racks for your RV | ARVIKA
A number of folks have added Safety Struts to the bumper/frame like these and then used a bolt-on receiver.

This subject creates a GREAT deal of debate, so get out your popcorn and sit back and read.

I saw the hitch that goes on the tongue jack but with a Windjammer that wouldn't work because if the v nose. There's no clearance

I installed these to give more support, just in case. SafetyStruts Prevent RV Bumper Failure (TM) (Hole-Less Version) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01F2LUI12..._NboNzbJG353N1

It is easy to install and should really give a lot of extra support. Just make sure it is tight against the support and bumper and should give a lot of support. Metal on this is quite thick, so would add lots of strength. Can even tack weld if wanted, but not required. Reviews on Amazon were good also. I installed them on my bumper and have a bike carrier and also two Honda 2000i generators so this was really desired and seems to work great. Even if bumper welds were to crack, this gives more support than original bumper since these are quite thick.

I've gone ahead and ordered them from Amazon. Thanks everyone for your input. This so be less expensive than the couple hundred the guy wanted to weld onto the bumper

I have done the front bumper mounted bike rack, for 1 trip.
It is OK, unless you drive at night. The glare off the headlights was terrible.

Anyone know how much clearance there is of the Roo front bunk using the Jack it rack? I couldn't use the Arvika rack without completely removing it due to the front bunk door not clearing it. I have a clamp on Curtiss rack, that fits on my hitch, but I don't feel good about putting more than one bike on it.

How much room do you have between the top of your jack and the bunk? This is from Lippert's site:
https://www.lci1.com/assets/content/...al__EN_FR_.pdf
You can see that part "F" can be easily removed so that the only possible problem would be if your bunk is within 8" or so of the top of the jack.
Here's a pick of mine:
Good luck with your search.

From the bottom of my (crank) jack and the bunk is 22" and change, that's it. There is about 2" above my propane tank covers. I didn't think I would revisit this again, but I never knew about this rack.

Windjammers and bumper bike racks
So their is an option for an 18" g bar, and a manual jack. I always wanted to upgrade my jack, but I'd give that up for a better bike carrier. That and it says it holds bikes by the wheels; you would not believe what I have gone through putting clamp on bars on our women's bikes! My new bike will not take a bar, and goes inside the camper in a stand rack, it might be good to have another option.

Windjammers and bike racks
I have a Windjammer 3029 and use a Swagman bumper bike rack that holds two bikes without any issues. So far, I've logged approx. 17K miles with this set up.

I'm willing to bet my Roo bumper isn't as strong. Did you do safety struts?

Summer has a Roo hybrid TT. No hybrid has a ladder since you couldn't drop the the bunk door down.

But I think Windjammers do. I'm just interested in the prospect of a bike rack for a Roo, it's been crazy trying to figure out where to put 4 adult bikes.
