Winterize 2902ss
Hello All,
Is it ok to pour the rv antifreeze directly into fresh water tank after draining and emptying water filter.
This is what I did:
1. Empty Black and Gray water tanks
2. Drain fresh water tank and close
3. Remove hot water heater plug and leave open
4. Enabled hot water bypass
5. Remove water filter and replace holder
6. Pour 8 gallons of rv antifreeze into fresh water tank
7. Turn on water pump and open cold and hot water taps one at a time till pink color fluid came out (Kitchen, bathroom, shower and outside shower)
8. Pour Black water deodorant down toilet
9. Run toilet until pink fluid comes out and leave a little in bottom of bowl
9. Presh button in city water inlet until pink fluid comes out
Have I forgotten anything?
My RV is in storage without power. How often should I plug my rv into my vehicle to charge and for how long. They gave me two batteries when I purchased it. Could I use a solar battery charger to maintain charge (5 watts).

Can you store your batteries @ home? If yes, pick up a battery tender & maintain them thru the winter.
You can keep an eye on the charging process & the batteries aren't liable to develop legs & wander off.

There is no reason to put antifreeze in your fresh water tank. Even if there is a little water in it, there is plenty of room for it to expand if it freezes. Otherwise, it looks like you have the rest down.

Welcome to the forum.
Seems like you got it all, but I would not have put the antifreeze in the tank. You should have got an adapter to hook to your pump and suck the antifreeze through the system. It won't hurt anything but you probably used 4 or 5 gallons too much of antifreeze. Also if you trailer has low point drains outside you should have opened them and let them drain out prior to doing the antifreeze as they will still have water in them. They are a blue and red (cold and hot) pipe sticking straight down with caps that screw on and off. Not all trailers have them but our new V-Lite does and our old one didn't. As to your water filter the housing can crack even when they have rv antifreeze in them if your temps get like ours (we can hit -40 or so here), so after I finish up getting antifreeze through the system I take the filter canister off and make sure the threads on the canister and housing are totally dry after I empty the canister housing down to about an inch or 2 of antifreeze.
I agree with Revrnd, I would take the batteries off the unit and store them on a wooden shelf of some type. If you get a battery tender make sure you get a good one that exercises the batteries or they will sulphate. I have a small tender I put on any of my stuff that doesn't run over the winter, I usually do it abt once a month for a day or two.

Pour 8 gallons of rv antifreeze into fresh water tank???
8 gallons are good for a little over 4 winterizings, but HEY, it's you $$$.
As Kim stated, there is not need to pour anti-freeze into the fresh water tank. There's plenty room for expansion. Most folks either install a blow-out plug (to blow the water out of the lines with air) or a anti-freeze siphon kit.

Hi Mike,
I was looking at your link in your signature. I will install one in the spring so next year I'm ready for winterizing. Can I pick one up at CampingWorld?
Your mods gave me a few ideas to try also.
Thanks
