winterize ? for a 2012 rockwood 2604

We bought a used 2604 this summer and previous owner had everything serviced for him. So I was not able to get much info. From what I have read...drain hot water heater and put on bypass. It has an outside antifreeze/winterize connection.

Do I hook a hose to that with the other end in antireeze? Is there something on the water pump I change or will it just pull in the antifreeze if I open faucets? Do I drain the freshwater tank before or after this? Thanks for any help.

I like to bypass the water heater BEFORE opening the low point drains so any muck in the WH doesn't get sucked into the plumbing. You'll need to open the pop-off to allow air into the WH after removing the drain plug. Stand off to the side so you don't get soaked!

There should be a valve near your water pump you will have to change to allow the pump to suck the antifreeze from your outside port. It is usually very near the pump in the suction side. And yes, you can just stick a hose in the jug. I have a piece of old garden hose that I cut to about 4'. Allows the jug to sit on the ground right next to the camper.

Oh, and once you change the valve for the antifreeze port, you can drain the fresh water tank anytime. (before or after pumping in antifreeze)

EDIT:
I assume you know about the low point drains?
And also you use the water pump (turned on) to suck the antifreeze into the system by opening ALL the faucets once turned on. (including outside shower if equipped)

Also some folks (including me) use compressed air to remove as much water as possible before adding antifreeze. There are adapters available that go onto your city water connection that allows you to add compressed air.

There are pages and pages of winterizing tips here.

Thanks for the replies. I will be crawling underneath this weekend to look for the low point drains.

This forum has given me so much information. The manual that came with the trailer is very generic and has not helped much.

One thing that nobody mentioned. Take the water filter canister off (IIRC, it is under the bathroom sink on the 2604), take the water filter out, then put the canister back on before you start pumping the pink anti-freeze in.

The location of your low point drains should be indicated by decals on the side of the trailer. They are close to the outside, near the waste drain, above the curve of the lower trim. I put valves on the ends of mine so I can just reach underneath to open them.
The filter Capt. Mike referenced is in the forward, left compartment, where the water heater and water pump are located.
You can PM me if you need to know anything about your 2604. Mine's a 2014.
