Your cleaning supplies

I was just wondering what everybody uses to clean your TT. Is what you use to clean the sides different from what you use to clean the awning, etc? Just thought I would throw out this question.

I use Zip car wax in cold water and clean all the exterior including awning after every trip. I soap it up pretty good. I also use NuFinish car polish twice a year to add a beautiful shine and protection which makes cleaning stubborn stains easier.

I am with Terry. Wash and wax soap with a soft bristle brush; followed by a good quality spray wax or Nu-Finish.

I also treat the roof to a roof scrub with roof cleaner and then UV treatment annually in the Spring.

Turtle wax car shampoo on the entire outside including the awning.

If the awning has black spots (mildew) and or tree stains (not sap)
I use a mixture of simple green with water and a cup of chlorine bleach.

Black streaks are easier to remove if you don't let them get too bad first!

I use meguiars car wash after every use on the sides. The RVwholesalers tech recommended using dawn dish soap on the roof and awning. Seems to work good.

I also use Meguiars car wash (Deep Crystal version) from Walmart - I also have a long handles washing pad that allows me to clean the awning as well

I have yet to clean my roof as it hasnt been dirty and it is hard for me to get up there and leave my 5 year old down below since I live in a condo - noticed this last trip that I will have to clean it soon though

I have a High speed orbital buffer and use Adam's polishes to wax the sides - have had the trailer since March and waxed it right after I got it and have had minimal streaks on the side that pretty much come off with every washing - I always wash it when I return from my trip to keep the bug's from sticking to the front of the camper also so it make's my trailer still look new and with minimal effort to keep clean after each trip.

For cleaning the awning (From the AE manual...)

"Mildew does not form on the fabric itself, but on
the accumulated dust, dirt and grime. Periodically
clean vinyl or woven acrylic fabric using a
mixture of 1/4 cup of dish soap and 1/4 cup of
bleach mixed with 5 gallons of warm water. Liberally
slosh the mixture on the top of the fabric and
roll the awning up for 5 minutes. This will apply
the mixture to the bottom as well. Roll it back out
and hose off with fresh water. Repeat if necessary.
Allow to dry before rolling up."

For cleaning the roof (From the Alpha Systems manual...)

"Periodic cleaning is the primary maintenance. Alpha Systems suggests using a household cleaner such as Murphy's Oil Soap with a soft nylon brush or sponge. DO NOT USE solid or granulated cleaners, as they will marr the finish.

A thorough cleaning needs to be performed annually."

For the sidewalls, I use normal car wash and Collinite's #845 Insulator Wax. Insulator Wax » Collinite

Ok, this thread pretty much confirms my suspicions regarding some bad info I received when we picked up our new Surveyor Sport this past Friday.

I was told to use WD-40 on the entire exterior to shine it up. I was skeptical about this as I was concerned it would penetrate the glue under the decals over time and cause them to start coming loose. I asked if it would do that and was told it would not, but I think I will stick with the good old wash and wax approach to be safe.

I use murphy's soap on the roof ( it's a great idea to do the roof first) HaHa,on the walls I use Turtle Zip Wax the awning always seems to be the hardest to keep clean I would be scared to use the bleach mix how do you keep it off the wall.

Makes you wonder about those shiney new rigs in the dealer's lot now, huh...
