2020 Surveyor 287BHSS

Still loving our new surveyor and the misses is booking out trips going into the late fall. Our trailer did not come with the Artic package tank heaters, the brochure says the ceiling is R14, floor is R9, and walls are R7 (1 1/2") or R 9 (2") model specific? How do I tell what the wall size/R rating is for my model?

Also, the brochure says cold weather camping based off insulated floor with heat ducting, how cold would you actually go to without being concerned?

Thanks!

We’ve camped in temperatures cold enough to freeze our fresh water hose overnight. With the heat on in the camper the plumbing inside stays plenty warm. With enclosed underbelly tanks it shouldn’t be a problem for a couple chilly overnights.

Thanks

Thank you for the response, I was hoping it would be OK in some chilly weather, but figured I'd spring for the artic package if I ever really planned a northern extended sub zero adventure.

The folks at Forest River got back with me regarding the walls in my unit, 2" R9. I will say I'm very pleased with the cooling in the southern heat, high 90's with high humidity and only need to run one AC to keep it nice and chilly.

Cheers!

Not sure how your trailer plumbing is laid out. Or 2020 Surveyor Luxury 267 RBSS has plumbing.......exposed. Look under the trailer.

Black and Gray tank valves with PVC pipe leading up to is is exposed.

Fresh water drain is exposed about 8 inches.

Low point drains are exposed about 5 inches.

These will freeze eventually. There are fixes for this. Not going to go into that. Because I am still exploring my own answers before winter. Just wanted you to be aware.

Good Luck!

Same

Hi,
My 287BHSS is the same, underbelly is enclosed, but all drains and gray/black water pipes exposed. We most likely will only dip into the freezing weather before we call camping quits this year and winterize, once I retire from the military I will be looking to cold harden the trailer for winter adventures.

Cheers!
