Day/Night Shades
I am curious, we just purchased an SP296 Sport camper, and at the time of ordering we loved the day/night shades. We were supposed to have them, but when we picked up the RV, the dealer told us Forest River discontinued them. Can anyone comment on that? Thank you

They are not discontinued, but they are optional. According to the brochure they only come standard on Surveyor 5th wheels.
If your dealer knew you wanted them at time of ordering, they should have listed them as optional equipment on the order sheet. Sounds like a dealer mistake to me.
Here is a link to the Surveyor brochure

See page 12.

Some additional info I learned first hand. FR will have brochures from different regions that will have different standard equipment.
For example my West coast 2012 10th Anniversary Surveyor did not come standard with an outside TV mount. East did. You go online and download the brochure like I did and you might be downloading a brochure from another region. Go figure.
I think there is a line somewhere in the brochure that says they can do whatever they want anyway. Which is what the dealer referred me too when I brought this up.

They came standard on my 08 Flagstaff V lite. We love them. Randy

Just a note on the Day/Night Shades. The manufacturer suggests that when not in use, the shades be stored in the full up position (all pleats compressed) to prevent their loosing the folds.

Maybe so, and if you accept this OK, but it's a lame excuse if you ask me. The whole point of a dealer is to know what he's dealing to his customers.

When we got our 08Flagstaff, we really liked the looks of the day/nite shades. After using them the first few times we learned to hate them. We traded the 08 for our present 12Flagstaff8528RKWS which has them and we still hate them. Would like to replace with venetian blinds, but $500-$600 prevents it. Poorest excuse to cover windows ever invented.

What did they give you instead of the day/night shades?
If you ordered them I would demand that they be provided.
We got them on our fifth, and like them a lot. Very simple to use and work very well.
