We just bought a '12 8528 and purchased the extended warranty that was offered; we then found out on here that FR offers another full yr warranty for about $150., I sent a letter cancelling the ExtraRide warranty and sent a check for the FR warranty.

I would definately get the extra 2nd year warranty from Forest River. So basically it is a $2,000 warranty for years 3-10. This question seems to get asked a lot on this forum so you may want to do a search. The general consensus seems to be that it isn't worth it. On our first TT we were offered the same extended warranty. I'm glad we chose not to get it because we sold the unit within the 1st couple years.

Buy the 2nd year warranty from FR and put the $2000 in a 3yr CD. After your initial warranty runs out you will have access to the CD. Chances are, what's going to go wrong(and be covered by the warranty) will have already gone wrong and covered by FR. You'll still have $2000 to do repairs if needed. JMHO

I can see spending the $150 through FR, but not $2000. Right now the 150 is saving me a bunch, ours is at the dealer having work done to it.

i would spring for the 2nd year and i am one that shys away form extended warranties. travel trailers seem to have problems develop over a greater time frame. this will especially be true if u don't use it constantly over the year.
the only thing that i would add is to check and see what it covers. the 7 year one i would not take. i'll bet if u read what it covers, it will be more restrictive.

So far, I think----------

I purchased the 2 nd year warranty from Forest River @ $150.00, I am six months into the 2nd year and I think Forest River is ahead. Under the second year warranty so far, I have received four new 8285WS hub caps, and Forest River will be replacing the microwave at the rally because water is getting into the glass in the door. also the lamp shade was replaced on the lamp under the second year warranty. I am still Happy with the second year warranty.
Lets see each hub cap can be replaced from the distributor @ $19.95 + shipping each.
Lamp shade for lamp, I'll just take a "WAG" (wild ***** guess) @ $14.95

one microwave, another "WAG" @ $69.95

I may be ahead of the game or close to it.

When we bought our 2nd year warranty it was only available for a limited time after the initial purchase so contact FR asap if you are interested. We used the warranty several times during the second year and it was worth the $150.
