Unhappy drive thru clearance

Hi
We just purchased an sp 192t in nc My Husband is on the way home to colorado with it and went thru a mcdonalds drive thru marked at 9" at the window there was an awning and it took the dometic fridge cover right off the roof.
does anyone know the clearance height for these including ac and fridge cover ? i saw in brochre that trailer height is 8ft 4 inches so this should have not been a problem.
It sounds like an easy fix to get a new cover and install it as long as nothing is damaged
Thanks

Your best bet is to get it home and measure it yourself.
Then you will KNOW what the actual number is while hooked
to your tow.

FYI, I would never take my trailer thru a drive thru lane!!!
That sounds plumb scary!

The specified trailer hight is 8ft 4in. The Air Conditioner adds another 12.7in.

That's a total of 9ft 4-3/4in.

As Dan stated, this is the surenuf way to know what the Exact hight of your trailer.

You can not go by what the clearance signs state. Many of them are wrong, especially drive throughs.

More Info

Hi
Thanks for the replies as I sataed My Husband went thru the drive thru I am here at home in Colorado and have not even seen the trailer yet.
After talking with Him again it seems it was posted to be 9"6 inches so it should have been ok and He did fit thru fine until He got to the pay window it has a little extended cover or awning so You dont get wet if it is raining and the trailer rubbed just enough to take off the fridge vent from the roof.I for the record would not have attempted to go thru the drive thru either.
I only posted this for information so maybe some other HTT newbie would think twice about clearance.Hubby should be back with our new toy some time late tonight Sooo excited.

I'd give your hubby a boot in the rear for taking your brand new camper through a drive-through! What was he thinking?
Hopefully that is a really good lesson to be very careful, and ALWAYS LOOK UP!

Used to help a guy on his race car that he raced on a 1/4 mile asphalt track. One night after the races and wayyyy too many beverages, we're going home and get hungry. He decides to pull in to a newly built Burger King, and to my surprise goes right thru the drive-in! Can only imagine what that poor kid thought when that car rolled by the window on the open trailer . Amazingly he made the swing- course the trailer wheels hopped up on the curb! Ohhh to be that young and dumb again!

I wouldn't even be able to make the corners into a drive through around these parts, let alone make it under anything.

That's what I was thinking w/ the confined locations, planter boxes & curbs, I can't fathom someone trying to take any kind of trailer thru a drive thru.

That last pic is reminisent of the bus crash in the Syracuse area that killed 4 people.

Cops: Driver using GPS when bus hit NY bridge - wtop.com

When I saw the news reports, the 10'9" clearance signs were quite visible, so I don't know what the driver was thinking.

Maybe that Wildcat owner was one of the disgruntled posters on these boards!

What we do with height, weight, length, & width of a new fire apparatus, is measure it ourselves, them put the info on a laminated 3x5 card, attached to the drivers visor. Always within reach for quick reference.

When we used to have an RV rental business we would have the height prominently displayed in front of the driver on the dash. We too measured ourselves and then put in a few extra inches just for safety sake.

I would never take any RV through a drive through anything.
