Front Cap Fading

While camping this past weekend I noticed my front cap is fading and discoloring. I contacted the dealer and the service manager immediately started the claim process, got the decals ordered and is willing to work with us on getting it repaired between trips.

Just and FYI...Forest River is aware of the problems with the discoloration and is working with the dealers and customers to take care of it.

It is a very early 2017, ran out of its 1 year warranty in May.

No complaints here with the service so far.

We did buy the 2nd year extension of the Warranty but I do not believe that comes into play here.

Hello, I just joined FRF for this reason, we bought a 2016 Surveyor 243RBS in April of 2016, and the front cap is fading already. Can you please provide a contact number to address this with Forest River?

My 2016 also started to fade. Used a stripping solution with gray (1000 grit) 3M pad to remove oxidation and then applied 6 coats of polymer. Looks better than new. Click image for larger version

Thanks Gmar60, that looks nice, but it also sounds like a lot of work. I am hoping that Forest River will step up and take care of the problem, this is certainly a defect that needs to be addressed.

Not so much work as time as it requires 20 minutes between coats to dry. After scrubbing oxidation off, the polymer just wipes on. No polishing required.

According to my dealer the decals will be removed, the nose cap will be refinished and resealed and new decals applied.

The dealer called, decals are in from FR and an appointment has been set. They are getting it done between trips. I didn't want to do it during camping season but it has to be done.
