Glass top stove cover

I have a 2019 Surveyor 243RBS, has anyone an issue with the hinges on the glass top stove cover. They seem to bend easily and does not allow the lid to fold correctly.

Stove Cover

Hello, According what I see on the trailers on the internet, it looks like you have the same glass cover as our RV. I've never had a problem with the hinges. Yours probably got damaged or bent before you bought it. I would have the dealer warranty the cover.

Only used it once that's probably what happened

When I had issues with my glass cover, I contacted the stove manufacturer and was able to get replacement parts.

Only had issue with the screws being loose. I have heard people saying theirs shattered. You can get parts from the manf.
That said, my wife was afraid to use it as a flat counter space when down and always afraid it would scratch and then break. So I built a little board to go over the top. Underneath it allowed for the hinges, otherwise sits right on top.
I now have seen online that they sell similar to replace the glass top for a smooth counter cutting board surface. Other than when the glass is up and being somewhat of a splash guard it is useless. We don't fry inside so splatter isn't a problem.

Hi, where did you get the wood top for the stove or did you make it yourself. We Just took delivery of a 2016 Forest River Sunseeker 3170DS and that looks like a great idea.

I made it myself. Got wood at HD. Same type 1/8" luan style plywood used in RV's and 1/2' square sticks. Cut, Glued and clear stained. Used clamps to secure it and keep it square.

Camping World, Amazon and other sell wooden cutting boards with adjustable plastic or rubber clips on the bottom that attach to the grid on the stove top. We purchased one of these to replace the glass top, which we didn't like as a work surface. Quieter too.

Our 5th Wheel is 2015, we have the same glass top. Our last camping trip Memorial Day Weekend we camped at a State Park about a 25 minutes drive away (thank God) - when we got there, before DH put the slides out - I see the glass top sitting on the Kitchen Dinette Table! The two slides "kiss" each other, that top came off and slid over the island to the kitchen table - lucky us, no breakage. The screws were loose, DH screwed it back. Dodges a bullet!!
