Handy Modification for Bunk Beds 247BHDS

It did not take me long to figure out that the bunk bed, even the bottom one was very awkward to get in to for an adult.. I wanted the bottom bunk to be accessible for anyone easily.. to fix that I removed the upper part of the top bunk on the first seam and re trimmed it. My wife is excellent with a sewing machine so re fitting the cover and making sheets etc., was easy. With that portion removed you can sit on the bottom bunk and get in easier and the lower bunk can be used as a step for getting into the upper one. Of course the upper bunk will be for kids since it is now 49 inches by 52 inches but still a great place for a couple of our grandkids. The kids always like an adventure anyway.
Pictures attached..

Having fun,,

Darrell

Looks like a good mod for sure.

I can also speak from experience that the beds are terrible to get into and even worse to try and make.

What are your thought on the access and table space of the U shape dinette?

I'm in the process of taking out the middle, leaving only the benches and building a table from the window to the end of the benches.

Actually had not thought about that until I saw your post.. right now when we watch tv I set with my back against the corner and use the backseat cushion for a leg rest. lazy for sure.
I did install a new tv mount so the tv could be turned and pulled out so we could see the whole screen while at the table..
