Are you sure it's your INverter -- or maybe your CONverter?
If CONverter, the fan runs when the converter needs to be cooled down - might be erratic because of a failing/failed battery.

I thought the same thing when I had my first MH until I noticed the fan only ran when I was using allot of battery power (converter charging batteries) more then likely what you are hearing is normal operation

Converter fan is temperature controlled and runs when converter is supplying a lot of current. Once demand decreases, the fan will stop.

It's probably normal and yes annoying.
My previous rig the fan ran in pulses like zoom, zoom, zoom.
It reminded me of the sound a mud dauber wasp makes when it's working inside it's mud tube.
It was mostly when we had on just one light. Gotta wonder why it needed cooling with such a light load.
As far as replacing it- probably could if you're an electronics hobbyist.

Thanks for the input. My batts. are new and it does sound like it's pulsing. And it's annoying. It still does it's job so I think I'll leave it alone. Thanks again for the input. S.

It may be running more than necessary if the cooling vents on the converter or power distribution center it's mounted in are blocked with lint, fuzz, pet hair, etc.
The fan is only necessary when there isn't enough normal air flow to dissipate the heat.
My PD9160AL converter's fan(s) only run when the Lithium batteries are being charged from deep discharge and the full output is being sent to them (just under 60 amps). Rest of the time the fans don't come on unless I'm drawing more than 10 amps or so.

New batteries are typically not fully charged and unless you have a complete cutoff switch they'll discharge quickly when not connected to shorepower.
RVIA code requires the LP detector to be hard wired to the battery and OEM cut-off switches typically leave it connected when all the other power is off. 2 or 3 weeks of tiny power draw will severely discharge the battery forcing the converter to work overtime bring the battery back up to full charge. Left too long even new batteries will be discharged to the point of damage.

It really isn't running to much, it pulses when it does run.
