Ok, but you are missing out on a lot of fun.

Seriously you are correct. 40 lbs of bike becomes 400+ with 10 G and I have no doubt they could experience that.

We installed bike carrier on factory installed ladder on Surveyor and ladder starting coming loose from camper. We removed bike carrier and tighten screws holding ladder to camper. Good thing we tried on short trip; ladder may have come loose from camper on long trip.

Make sure you have a professional look at the backing points that your ladder is screwed too, you Don’t want that ladder coming off its mounts while you are half way up it!!

I AGREE...mounting them high and ensuring the bike is tight and firm is key. I've been using ladder mount carrier on last three rv's. No problem....maybe those who have had issues are not securing them tight. When I secure my bike it does not budge even slightly.

We have a hitch mount bike rack used for 2 years with no problem but it a factory hitch. We carry 2 bikes .

When we head to Florida we will have to load 2 kayaks and 2 bikes in back of truck along with chairs, fan, etc. We were able to make it work without having to buy ladder rack for pickup. You really have to consider what you really need to carry. Have seen some people putting bikes into camper and some even putting kayaks inside camper.


We were hoping bike rack would help but now know that you can't attach anything to ladder. We do have our 35 gallon waste tank attached to bumper of camper and it does not weigh enough to cause any damage to bumper. Used aluminum box hand truck from Sam's Club and treaded rods to make a light weight rack to secure waste tank to bumper. We have been on many trips with no problems and this frees up space in bed of truck.
