Solid Step/ flooring question

I have a 2020 Surveyor Legend and I am gonna install a Lippert Solid Step on it. I have a couple questions.

1. Do you guys remove the old steps or just leave them on. Just thinking about weight savings?

2. Does anyone that might have the same model know if the subfloor is 1/2 plus plywood or the sandwiched material with thin veneer? Need to know for either screwing it down or bolting it through.

Thanks for your help.

Moved thread from the General Community Discussion section to the Surveyor sub-forum since the OP is asking for model-specific information and not a general question.

Step Swap

Shouldn't be an issue. When we flipped the axle on our 2021 19BHLE, the 2-step MorRyde steps that it came with were no longer tall enough.

Swapped them over for a 3 step version - which is obviously a bit bigger, and heavier. Just screwed right back down over the laminate in the holes that the old one used, but used the new screws that came with the new steps.

Haven't even had to re-tighten them in the last 5,000 plus miles. I like their quick-adjustability feature a bit better than the Lipperts, and the dual locking mechanism for when they're in the door frame.

Sold the old ones on Craigslist with very little trouble, too.

We installed the solid steps and did take the old steps off and bolted it through, figured it would be a better way to go. We already knew that they were gonna be nice but they’re really awesome!

We also ordered the Lippert storage box that goes in place of the old steps. Don’t like the open space left by the missing old steps.
