Surveyor Luxury 272FLS - what truck used to tow

I have a Mini-Lite 2509S and tow with a 2018 F150 Crew Cab 3.5L Ecoboost. Very pleased with how my truck tows the 2509S.
But the new Surveyor Luxury 272FLS has caught my eye. For those with this trailer, what truck are you using to tow?

I am towing mine with a 2019 Ram 1500 5.7L with a 3.21 axle ratio. Using the ProPride hitch. It tows it ok. Averages 9 mpg. It lacks engine braking though.
I also added cheap airbags in the rear coil springs. DIY install.

Without knowing exact specs on your truck, I am only throwing out my speculations. While the 3.5L has tons of HP and torque to pull like a freight train, the F150 will likely be overloaded on payload and the rear axle GAWR.

Purchasing a Surveyor 247BHDS, it's dry weight was 6008 and fully loaded was right at 7500. Our original tow vehicle was a 2011 F150 and the Ecoboost engine had plenty of power. What I felt the truck lacked was enough mass to consistently maintain comfortable control of the trailer. The truck had a short wheelbase of 145" and the trailer is 29.5' long. With the truck always maxed with payload and rear GAWR, the trailer still outweighed the truck by a few hundred pounds. The length and mass of the trailer would sometimes push the truck a bit around corners and the truck never felted "planted" to the ground. We towed for 4k miles and traded up to an F250.

The 2 details of the F250 that have helped our towing experience was the 156" wheelbase and that the truck weighs about 1700 pounds more than the F150. It just feels solid on the road.

For some reason my original reply didn't include the image. Here is my rig hooked up and fully loaded. Note I did remove the rack off the back of the trailer because it's pretty heavy and I don't need it. The 272 has a large pass-through at the back and you have to be careful of getting the tongue weight too light.

yes, I'd rather have a 3/4 ton. but this 1500 setup tows it just fine for my weekend warrior activities.

Thanks for the replies. Since I’m more than a weekend warrior, I’ve decided that this beautiful trailer is probably more than my truck can safely handle. I winter in southern Texas from Missouri and take longer trips during the summer months. It’s a great floor plan and will keep it in mind for the future when a truck upgrade is warranted.
