Hi, Does anyone have any info on manually closing the slideout in an SV291? We just upgraded to a new '07 model and when we were looking and asked the salesman, he said all newer ones had a way to manually close the slide, I guess like a hand crank or something. When we picked it up and were doing the walkthru with the tech, he said he didn't think the SV291 had a manual crank and if it did it would most likely be behind the sofa. Since the plate in front of the sofa is screwed on, I really would like to get a definite answer before I need to tear into the sofa. I couldn't find anything on the forest river website and there isn't a contact number there, either, so I guess another question is "Does anyone have a contact number for them"? BTW I asked in the RV.NET forum and was directed here.
my manual overide for the slide is under the trailer
as I have the corrugated underbelly I had to do some searching for it but once I found it I made a cutout so I could access it should it ever become necessary. mine is a small gear box about 3/4 of the way away from the side the slide is on and located next to the front "arm". sorry I don't have pics
there is no crank on mine but it can be turned using a 3/8 socket extension
I also have a 2007 SV291. When we ask about a manual over ride, our salesman and service tech both told us that it would take two adults ,but you just push it closed. I hope we never have to find out if that's true!
