Tank sensors

On my 2008 Jayco, the tank sensors worked for about a week and nothing I did helped. I read that some people use calgon and such. Is there a problem with them on the Surveyor or is it just hit and miss?

The black tank sensor problem are not just Surveyor specific.....it is across the board with all campers.

There is a TON of really good information here about the care and feeding of tank sensors. The stock ones (regardless of manufacturer) are ALL the same; crappy. There is an awesome video on the Horst site that explains it very well. (No I do not own stock in them, but I wish I could).

I have two sets (1 black set and 1 gray) sitting in my Christmas stocking for the Spring after we get back from Florida.

Feel free to search the forum and I am sure you will get the whole range of things to try.

Yah, I noticed my gauge telling me the tank was still full or 1/3 full after each dump. After I installed an 'in tank' rensing unit, the sensors seem to work fine. And after you dump, then use the rense, and it still says its not empty, do like your conditioner and 'rense and repeat'. There are several writeups on the forum on installing one, so search around they do work great with a little modification (increase the diameter of the spray holes).

I have a turbo flush rinse system in my Flagstaff, but it is useless when dry camping (when you really need those sensors to work perfectly).

If you watch the video demonstration you will see how little crud on the walls it takes to "turn on the lights." I used to think "paper on the sensors" until I saw the video. Now I think slime on the walls.

The replacement probes sound interesting. Unfortunately, the Surveyors have enclosed bottoms. Any ever pull down the enclosure material and install these probes in a Surveyor?

My Flagstaff has a corrugated plastic bottom as well. I will be dropping it this spring when the weather improves to install the probes I found in my Christmas stocking. It looks pretty straight forward. My plan is to photo document and post the progress.
