I think mine is 20 gallons. Wish it was 30 but 20 is the biggest that fits in my Expedition. (Don't forget ya gotta haul the empty tank around too.)

Whatever size get one with pneumatic tires, not plastic. And you need to hook it to the truck (the tongue usually just slips over the ball).

Grey water???? Been RVing for decades. If we don't have hookups (like next weekend) we always run the grey water into the brush, via a cap with a garden hose connector and garden hose. As long as its grey water.

This is illegal in many campgrounds, especially public campgrounds. Gray water usually has food particles, which attracts pests and animals.

My thinking is different. I carry a ten gallon tank. Light enough to lift if needed and ten gallons out of the black tank is good for several days.

Actually its not, and I have never been in A CG that told me any different. If we are in a CG without sewer hookup I ask if its ok. Some have even thanked me for asking and I had a couple say that they prefer it as it helps with keeping up with their dump tanks.
I started doing it 20 years ago at a state park in NJ that actually requested it.

Must be an East Coast thing because it's not allowed at most Western national and state parks I've been to. Especially on the West Coast.

State and National Parks I've been in usually prohibit dumping gray water. I've even seen it in State Law for any gray water dumping without permit and proper methods.

Private parks are different and i've been in some in the N. Central states where they actually encourage gray water dumping on their trees, shrubs, and flower beds next to sites.

Ir's going to depend on where you are for specific rules.

I was at a KOA in Pa with no hook ups and we were permitted to have our grey water drip while staying there.
I thought this was weird since the site were very close.

Always controversial and, in some respects, completely misunderstood. There are some places dumping of grey water is permitted and actually preferred but what is grey water? What we're calling grey water here and how our camper tanks are labelled does not pass muster here in Virginia -- nor do I guess too many places.

Quote:
Virginia 9VAC25-740-10.

Definitions.

Gray water" means untreated wastewater from bathtubs, showers, lavatory fixtures, wash basins, washing machines, and laundry tubs. It does not include wastewater from toilets, urinals, kitchen sinks, dishwashers, or laundry water from soiled diapers.

"Sewage" means the water-carried human wastes and nonwater-carried human excrement, kitchen, laundry, shower, bath or lavatory wastes, separately or together with such underground, surface, storm and other water and liquid industrial wastes as may be present from residences, buildings, vehicles, industrial establishments or other places.
Emphasis added.

For years we camped almost every Memorial Day at an Ohio state park which only had electric on site. Since it was a state park it was massive, wooded, and set on a small bluff next to a lake. Every morning after breakfast I would tow my 32 gallon Barker tote tank (shown earlier -- note the pneumatic wheels) to the dumpsite and back haul water in the 35 gallon "tractor supply" tank I carried in the back of my Expedition for this purpose. Hassle? Not really and it kept me from having to wash the breakfast dishes.

Keep it clean! Don't be that guy.

I use a 5 gallon paint bucket that seals up to transport. I've never stayed in one place long enough for the black tank to fill.

We use a 15 gallon tote tank. (pick your brand)
15 gallons is enough to get us through most camping stays and not a bear to wrestle around.

And yes, even on the East coast it is illegal to dump grey water on the ground many places. (notice I didn't say all places)
It's another one of those things that you can't paint with a broad brush.

Just because you do it, doesn't mean it is OK to do it everywhere. Check the laws and regulations where you are staying to be sure.

I have to tow my Barker tank today 1 1/2 miles to the dump station, poor thing will get a workout. I will put it in the back of the truck for the return trip, only grey water is used in the tank as we can go for a week on the black tank.

Only used the wheeled tote tank one (1) time to dump the black tank, probably 10 years ago, and I don't look forward to doing it again! "Trick" is to have a tote tank larger than the tank on the trailer as getting the valve shut just before the tote filled only kinda worked for me.

Grey tank is no sweat if a little spills on the ground but...
