Warranty on furniture?

I went to my dealer today to report a broken sofa in our 2017 251RKS and he told me Forest River does not warranty furniture. Is this true? Our trailer is only 9 months old . . .

If you are still under factory warranty, it should be covered.

They should repair anything in the trailer for 1 year under manufacture warranty. My dealer called me a week before my warranty was up to see if I needed anything done before the warranty was out. I had them replace the lights and bezel in the front lights in the cap, the bezels are chrome on a 2016 and they replaced both the lights and bezels to the 2017 configuration. BTY, My sofa in my 251RKS also broke where they mounted it to the floor, We replaced it with a reclining type sofa, much better.

Our table chairs that were NOT made by F/R failed on First Use! On inspection they were assembled with fasteners/screws that were Only 1/4" inch longer then "Pocket"! I contacted F/R and sent Pics! They said they would replace them all,I decided that after a possible Long Wait and chance the Replacements would be the Same,I just removed ALL the "Pocket Screws" and used a "Kreg Pocket Hole Kit" and longer pocket screws! It took less time to do this than take all 4 chairs and 2 bar stools to a Dealer/Shipping source and "WAIT" for ?? period of time till the "Maybe SAME MFG replacements" arrive to us! I also "Glued and Screwed" the joints! Youroo!! PS I posted Pics Way Back when this was done!

The problem is my dealer. He refuses to do any warranty work. Thinking about legal action . . .

Have you contacted FR?
I could understand if you didn't buy from them but if they sold it to you, they should do the warranty work.

Contact FR. Supposedly, the dealer who sold it is suppose to do the warranty work.

If FR is sending you to another dealer, I would jump at it unless they are very far away. If your dealer refuses to do warranty work, you probably don't want them to do the work. If forced to do it it may cause more problems than you have now. This should also set the stage for any future repairs if needed. Keep the ultimate goal in mind even if it is not the way it should be.

What answer were you expecting?

I guess I was expecting FR to call the dealer and work on the problem. I must be a dreamer in the wrong reality . . .

Did you buy it from that dealer you're having issues with?
It may be that FR is having their own issues with them.

yes, I purchased it from that dealer. He even pushed the second year warranty from FR. Now I can't even get him to file a claim.

I had a few issues with my sofa and bed lift supports and some hardware, all were taken care of promptly. They even took care of some things I over looked or didn't think they were a big deal. There are some things that are just easier to take care of myself as opposed to taking it in. Sorry you dealer isn't providing the service after the sale. Good luck with your concerns.

OK, I read my warranty and here's a quote "After discussing the situation with the dealer-ship management, if your problem has not been resolved to your satisfaction, we welcome you to contact the Forest River Customer Service Manager at the address listed above. Our recommendations for an agreeable solution will be communicated to the local dealer."

Seems to me I need to call the Forest River Customer Service Manager and have a discussion.

FR's agreeable solution may just be the next nearest dealer.

If that's the case, I would focus on building a good relationship with the service and parts people there. That will be exponentially more valuable than having FR "big brother" the service guys you bought it from. You may be surprised that the FR recommended service department is more than happy to have your business...

Just to let everyone know, my dealer would not file a claim, flat refused. So, I went to another dealer 100 miles away and they filed my claim today.

Good! Thank you for the update. I know it's a long drive, but that dealer may be the better choice for servicing your trailer.
