What causes the frosted glass to do this?

In our rig, the frosted glass seems to be disappearing? It's not scratched or peeled. How do you remove it to just put in your own?

I've got that going on too. Overhead cabinet doors? I thing we found it to be an applique something on the order of tinting car windows. Mines not frosted though more a crackle finish.

Yep! The "frost" is on all of our upper cabinet windows and this issue issue is happening on a few of them.

If it was mine, and not understanding how this design of glass is made and now failing.....I’d mask it off and paint the surface with high gloss black paint, on one side or the other.
It was never designed to be clear glass to see inside anyway.
Not sure where the defect is.....inside or outside glass?

As far as removing it....it’s probably in place with just silicone or such, so a box cutter blade to start.

On mine, it is on the ''room'' side of the glass. I was thinking glass scraper/ single edge razor blade. But, until I find a source for the material or they all show it, I'll dim the lights and have a drink!

glass is usually held into the door with the 1/4 round moldings on the inside. You can carefully pry them off and remove the glass and put in real smoked glass.

Or you can buy the spray on kind, did that on one of our commercial vans so theives can't see what we're carrying.

You can get the crackle finish in any color from a pet supply store. That is the stuff you paint on the backs of aquariums to give it some background other than the wall behind the tank. Goes on like regular paint, then gets the crackle look as it dries. Give it a try, must be less expensive than replacing all the glass on the doors.

I went to the $$ store and purchased some "black" poster board======Cut pieces to the inside size of each door and used small finish nails to hold it in place....
