22rr rear ramp! They say I won't be able to load my 2012 Can Am Spyder RT be

Angle of the ramp is too steep! Anybody on here have a 22RR & a Spyder RT ? Any ideas to overcome this ? I can't get a newer Truck 2012 Chevy Silverado 4 by 4 1500 with 5.3L engine & tow package .

If you run your tongue jack up as high as it will go ( disconnected from tow vehicle of course) it should significantly change the angle at the rear end. Be sure to chock wheels.
I suggest running the tongue jack up full height one time, slowly, carefully, and marking the leg with paint, then stopping short of full heights from now on as you can run it out and get hung up.

Tongue up, blocks under the end of door/ramp and a set of ramps should get you there.
We used to load small race cars this way and they are very low.

x2, I did this to load a 2014 streetgluide in my 27HFS, just be careful backing the MC/three wheeler or spyder, I have had to help several people dig their exhaust out of the ground when trying to unload.

I had the same issue with my Toy Hauler loading my bike. The problem with the angle is the transition between the end of the ramp where it hinges from the trailer. My bike would bottom out there. Temporary fix was to chock wheels, raise tongue of TH as high as it would go then lower the back stabilizers just to be safe and to provide a bit more stability as I reached the trailer riding up the ramp. I now have purchased a ramp extension and a couple of jack stands. I raise the end of the ramp up placing the stands under each end corner then lay the ramp extension down on ramp edge. The loading and unloading is so much easier and whole lot less stressful.

I have a 26RR, had the same issue with the Harleys. Easiest way for me has been to use the power tongue jack and raise it high enough that my safety chain hooks are just off the ground when hanging straight down.

Substantially decreases the angle of the ramp and works very well. Bikes no longer drag and the one bike sits very low to the ground. Yes, you have to unhook, then hook back up but the ball stays directly under the tongue, it is quite easy if you have a power jack.

I have also used an additional ramp, I chose the jack just so that I don't have a ramp to haul/store while camping. But both methods should do what you need effectively.

This might be what RB is referring to:

19RR Extension.

Pretty much what I am also planning on doing when I finally get my TH.

I built one very similar to the 19rr ramp. I have a 26rr and it works very well for our harley. It really changes the ramp angle and there's no screwing around with jacking up the trailer. Going in the trailer wasn't that bad but I always thought coming out was way worse. This way I can touch the floor all the way out. Jmo

Last year we had a Vengeance 29V and a 13RT. I took a 3ft and a 2ft piece of 2x6 and screwed them together with a 3" offset. Made 2 of them, the 3" goes under the ramp door. When loading the front wheels climb the 2x6's and clear the nose. The combination of raising the front jack, the 2x6 under the ramp, and raising the RT by putting full air pressure in the suspension lets you load the Spyder. I was never successful in loading backwards, it would always spin out. Remember to let some air out of the bag when transporting. Your stock antenna will hit, but is manageable.

I had a lot of issues with keeping it tied down, use good straps and check it often.

The enclosed photo's are from the first load, after, I reworked the 2x6's as described above.

I would never load/unload without being connected to the tow vehicle.

I have an extension that is the width of the door and 12”. Bring the door down, flip the lip out and then I have some stubby 4x4 pieces that I stick at the hinge. Was having trouble grinding my Goldwing at the top. This has fixed it for me. I also drop a short piece of 2x4 in the door gap so the front wheel doesn’t dip on the way in.

I added an extension ramp after lowering the hauler ramp to about 14” off the ground. I hold the ramp door with jack stands and add the aluminum ramp. I also made a transition plate and now getting our Harley’s into the 26RR is no stress. We’ve just loaded them up today for our first trip out on Friday to Daytona Beach for a bike week! We’ve put a lot of sweat & tears in this last month getting her ready for the maiden voyage...wish us luck....fingers crossed!

Thanks.. I had an extra piece at work and bent a flange. Worked out well, I can’t believe they don’t supply one with a toy hauler!

Yeah, that leading edge was catching the bottom of my GoldWing, I have to make sure I stand and walk it in so that the suspension is unloaded.

I used loading doc bumpers on my door to give it lift and the have the fold out ramp similar to the one shown above except it’s diamond plated and secured with a piano hinge.

Sweet. I was going to convert mine to a much larger extension and piano hinge but in the end, this setup is enough for me so I left it as is.
