AAA sucks Waited over 3 hours, NO Show!!

I have a 2013 sunseeker Class C and love it. I got AAA Plus RV in case i ever needed them. This weekend while traveling on I95 north of Jupiter in Florida, I blew out the passenger outside tire. I have no idea why it blew, only have 14,000 miles on the tires and the date on tire was 2012.

I called AAA and they said a tow truck would be there in 45 mins, the next exit was 14 miles and i did not want to damage my Rv by risking it and driving slow for 14 miles. After 30 mins i called them back and was told the first tow truck could not assist me cause of the weight of my RV. ( i have jacked my rv with a bottle jack and rolling jack in the past and made AAA aware of this. No i did not have my jack with me, which will never happen again.

After 2 hours sitting on the side of 95 i grab my leaving blocks and placed them under my rear hydraulic jack. I was able to raise it enough to change the tire my self. After 3 hours AAA called me back and said they are sorry but no one was able to come help me.

I am sharing this story hoping to learn who you use for emergency road side assistance. To let you know AAA dropped the ball big time and the lesson i learned was to never travel again with out my jack.

Sorry you had non service from a contracted provider. The Tire police will be along shortly to tell you your tires were past there due date at 4 years old. Possibly road hazard related of just hit a curb once too often causing damage.
Might be worth while having a good look at all tires now.

Oh my, I was just fixing to renew AAA and add RV to it. Do you mean leveling blocks? Did you have impact drill to get lug nuts off? Scary story for sure.

I had AAA and the RV Plus, They left me stranded, then they sent a guy in car out who asked if I had a jack, I said no and he said he couldn't help then. Thats when I called a local wrecker that was there in 15 mins and had it changed. I had to pay like 75.00 to him. I then cancelled them and went with Good Sams..... PS: B&B now that was funny but true...LOL...

We had AAA RV + for over 30 years, pulled to FL CG and noticed a bubble on inside of a tire, called AAA they came to the CG and said they only change tires along the highway! I dropped AAA and went with GS,they lie also! Youroo! !

Wow, i have AAA + RV and thought i would be ok. I have used them several times in the last copy yrs for our daily drivers around home and almost had to use them out of state but cancelled cause i solved the problem before they came out, no big deal. I may have to start looking into GS instead. Will they only deal with RV/TT or would they deal with daily drivers around home as well?

Long before I had a TT, I had AAA. Realized that when I needed them, so did everyone else. It was always a long, long wait. Dropped them back in early 70s and never regretted it. I have never missed them, even after owning a TT!

All of the roadside assistance companies use contracted services, they don't have a fleet of their own tow trucks all over the US. All have good and bad stories all over the net. If you do a search for reviews on any one of them, some will be good, but most people who post things are not happy, so you will get many horror stories about all of them. I haven't seen a head to head, state to state comparison, so it is anyone's guess which is the best overall.

You'd think AAA would be better, since they seem to charge the most and for other services work very well. I have used them for years, but have yet to need them for my RV/Truck. I hope it works, when I need them.

For me, I try to do whatever I can myself. If I can't, I call for help. I guess I got used to that before cell phones became an everywhere and everybody occurrence. Oops, showing my age!

I have had Good Sam Roadside Services for a few years now. I am a lifetime member also. I've only has to use them once and they told me it would be 30 minutes, and a 30 min they called me to check on the tow and when he was't there, they called me back in about 5 min yelling me he was on the way. I'd recommend them.

This is true except an RV service such as Good sams will send the the right people, not like my case they sent a person in a car without a jack thank you AAA Plus RV.

I have had and used AAA many times with no issues. I still have them and also Coachnet. I figure and hope between the two I should be OK. I hope.

We had Good Sam and AAA. We traveled from yhe west coast to the east coast and ran into some problems with our class a. We used both GS and AAA and waited between 3 and 4 houRS each time. Both had trouble finding a tow truck large enough to tow a class a. When we got home, we sold the class a and bought a new truck and travel trailer. Had a flat on the trailer and AAA was there in 20 minutes, so I think it all depends on what you are driving and what sort of service you need.

AAA is notorious for taking hours to get to you, even in a car. When I needed them to tow a Ford Escort they took almost 2 hours to get someone to me. The trouble is AAA pays the least to the wrecker companies so they are at the bottom of the priority list.

We had AAA for many years and they were good 30 years ago. Had 2 similar experiences with AAA and daughter was stranded by them in Alabama. We switched to Good Sam's and will stay with them. Had 2 experiences where I needed assistance with my tow vehicle and they were very professional with their response. In Arizona, they came within 30 minutes and hauled my truck with us in it since we had a large dog that with us and could not fit in tow truck cab. (Wife calls this a bucket moment seeing the odd looks on truckers we passed). The other call was in Louisiana and they not only towed my vehicle but found a a repair place with a hotel close by so I could check on the repairs. The mishap was late Saturday evening so I spent two days there getting my truck repaired. Not only is Good Sam's less expensive but they will go the extra mile to help you in the emergency.

I'm my own AAA. I carry everything including a small compressor that will run on the genny. Impact wrench, sockets, jack, assorted hand tools and knowledge.

I'm just to old to that myself and I still need a service for my wife's car, no way she can do it. So I might as well get everything covered under one umbrella.

I have had Good Sam Road Side Service for over 15 years and would not have any other service. Just a month ago I was towing my 40 foot fifth wheel and my dually pickup developed a mechanical problem which force me to stop immediately. Call Good Sam and within an hour I had two tow trucks come to my aid. One towed my fifth wheel to the nearest rv dealership for storage until my truck was fixed and the other one flatbed my truck to a repair shop. The towing did not cost me anything. The good thing about Good Sam they are required to get my fifth wheel and also my truck off the road and to repair shops.

I also had a breakdown with my fifth wheel on I-70 Utah in the middle of no-wheres. My passenger side rear wheel had the brake adjuster spring broke and parts started to jam up and caused a lot of heat. I could not move my fifth wheel and was on shoulder of an exit ramp. I called Good Sam and they have a repair truck which had to come from 70 miles away. It took about 1 hour and 30 minutes for them to arrive, but they did come. He got the tire off the axle and was able to do a temporary repair so that I could drive carefully about 120 miles to an RV repair shop. I only payed for the repair time while he was with me.

I have experienced a few other breakdowns over the last 15 years and each time Good Sam did a good job. It is well worth the yearly cost of their service plan.

Just another opinion. I have had Allstate Motor Club since 1998 and have used them about 6 times for my RV's and about 4 or 5 times for my autos. They have been fantastic with response and service. You can purchase various levels of service and I admit that I pay about $120 a year, but I have yet to experience any issues with them not responding with the proper size tow vehicle or equipment to resolve my problems. On one occasion, I even had to call them twice in one day! Call them for an Introductory Service package for less than $80 or $90 for a year.

I dumped AAA after they just said they could not handle me when I needed towed. Then police called towing service which was AAA approved. Then I submitted claim, using proper forms and they only partially reimbursed me saying something about small print. I immediately started ordering all of the tour books and maps I could and let my membership drop. Switched to Good Sams, used three times with very good results.
