cable to toad not working right

When hooking my toad up to my motorhome the lights on the toad don't work, so I bought a tester that you plug into the plug of the motorhome to see if the problem is with the motorhome plug. Mine is ok so then I get the cable that goes to toad (but not hooked up) and with a tester with an alligator clip find the ground and turn on the different lights. What lights up with the test light is only the center ground, and top two holes light up with the right turn, left turn, headlights, and brake. I am by myself so I cannot put it in backup mode to see if any other holes in my plug going to the toad lights up. Does anyone know if I just need a new cable or what could be going on. Would rather not buy a new plug until I find out if that is the problem. I took the toad end of the plug and took it apart and all wires are connected tight.
