Ceramic tile floor repair

I'm going to help a buddy fix a ceramic floor in his motor home. I've done tile in homes, but never in a MH. Anyone here done this? Wondering if we need cement board, and if use regular quick set mortar or if I need to use something more flexible? Thanks for any insight.

Thanks for the feedback, we went with plywood over 1/4 "aluminum. Owner of the MH is a retired machinist LOL. Used premixed mortar. Going back tomorrow for grouting.
